My bad  , but you got my point. I find it utterly wasteful to go after Burnett who is a huge gamble at 5/50 plus, instead of spending it on Giles when we have TWO outfield holes unlike the Cubs.

Again. If I was a Mod I could fix this.

But you're not so you cant :P

Do you seriously want a mod spot?

I don't know. The ones we have now do a pretty good job.

Dont think they even need new mods. This board gets out of control rarely... and seems to me they have enough mods..

You've only been here since Jan.? Seems a lot longer.

I concur. I have a feeling Beckett and Burnett will both prove to be a bit overrated by not getting all those starts at the Fish palace.

They really only need Modzilla. The rest are futile.

Exactly, I'm not going to go nuts throwing money at a Coors Field (or even Texas) hitter either.

If the Cubs get Giles and Furcal, I'm packing up my toys and going home  !

I'm honestly starting to believe we will get neither.

I don't like those thoughts. The alternatives make me way too sad.

i'm starting to think that there's something wrong w/ giles...it seems like nobody wants him. everybody's overpaying for crap, but they don't seem to want to open it up for giles.

maybe he has a wooden leg that won't hold up in anything other than san diego weather. maybe he's a robot programmed to explode in 2007.

There is a growing belief within the Yankee organization that free agent Brian Giles is using the club to drive up the bidding, a person familiar with the situation told Newsday.

Is it possible Giles is making it too hard for teams to make him an offer? I really don't know, but I found this interesting.

Or maybe he's just 35 with no signs of decline (unless you count Petco). I'm wondering the same thing, perhaps OF are perceived as more readily available. There's a huge drop off after him on the free agent market, but maybe teams think other outfielders will come available via trade?

Maybe a lot of GMs with money are ignorant and don't understand park factors.

I'd bet on that one. You know when one of Teixeira/Soriano/M. Young/Blalock leaves Texas that someone will overpay for him without looking at park factors.

I think they see his age and his numbers and think decline. He is also perhaps asking for too much. Though GM's are overpaying, perhaps they learned something about ageing outfielders.

Ditto for Beckett and Burnett. Hey, at least they're looking beyond wins, should we claim a partial victory?
