For $3.66 mil. per year Eyre better be the best damn LOOGY I've ever seen. I'm going to whine like a little girl if lefties bat over .125 against him, and even if they don't I'll still whine because he makes $3.66M to face one batter per outing. Edited by frostwyrm

Levine thinks it's a good deal. Eyre was the 3rd best lefty available in free agency. Says Hendry is also going after a RH setup guy like Looper and Howry.

We're number 3!

We're number 3!

Sounds kind of like what we can expect in the National League Central standings for the next few years...

He had the third lowest WHIP of guys with less than 8 K/9 that throw with their left hand.

Where does this leave Ohman, who did a commendable job last year? Do we need 2 LOOGY's? Or is Eyre Dempster's setup guy? I don't get it.

Maybe Ohman is now possible trade bait.

Also, I'm not going to judge this signing until I see how Eyre does in a Cubs uniform. I guess all the "Mr. know it Alls" here know what the market is regarding LOOGY's as FA's. NOT!!!!

Give it a chance all you pessimists & overreacter's!

The way we are going, the other teams won't need a LOOGY when they face the Cubs. Barrett, Lee, Aramis, Murton, Cedeno make up the heart of the order. Not a lefty in the bunch. Add Mench in right and the LOOGY won't even have to make the flight to Wrigley.

Correct me if I'm wrong, does that put at 10.5m so far on the money spent on Rusch, Perez and Eyre?

That's Furcal or Giles right there. Watch us miss out on those guys over a couple of million dollars. OML...this offseason is going in the crapper rapidly.

Why are you guys making moves so early? The Cards are sitting back doing nothing to this point, except exercise Suppan's option. Hmmm, curious whether we're missing the boat or the Cubs are jumping the gun.

The FA market is very thin TY. I expect many trades to go down this off-season. The fact is the Cubs have more moves to make than the Cards.

The third year is a PLAYER option, so, if he's unbelievably good in the first two years, he'll leave. If he sucks, he'll stay.

Throw in the 1.5 that the Gremlin is going to get to be Dusty's caddy and it is an even 12.

12 ought to get Giles signed.
