Cal's your other school? The Pac-10 always play their games Thurs-Sat.

I got a master's at cal when murray and kidd were there. My dad also went to grad school there so there is a loose affiliation. Definitely don't get as into it as Illinois though.

I hope Ben Howland makes these jerks run around begging for mercy in practice. Utterly embarassing. Oh, and they better work on their FTs. Because UCLA would have beat Washington and USC if they made their FTs.

This better be a wake-up call.

Well, UCLA made it close and shame on the refs for giving the game to USC.

Oh, and this is the first time I have really been unimpressed with Howland's coaching (mainly timeout usage and substitution patterns).

To revise the numbers, it's now 9 Big East losses...by 27 points...in 6 overtime periods.

(3) Uconn 75, ND 74.

In Hartford.

I honestly can't believe this.

Edited to add some more numbers:

Seven of those nine losses were to the top 7 teams in the standings of what is, by far, the best conference in the nation and quite possibly the best conference ever in one year.

ND went on a 25-2 run at one point in this game, and I'd be reasonably sure that no team has ever gone on a 25-2 run or more and lost a game before. Ever.

If just three of these games had gone the other way (I'll pick Nova, WV and this game because those were probably the closest three), then ND would be standing at 16-8 (7-6) and there'd be no doubt of their NCAA worthiness. As it is they're 13-11 (4-9) and will probably need to win out and get to the Big East title game, at least, to sneak in the back door.

I hate to just keep on complaining and reeling off these numbers after every close loss, but I have just never seen anything like this in my life.

Mizzou loses by 3 at home to aTm. They executed the Bryce Drew play perfectly with 1.2 left going the full court, but Gardner couldn't knock down the tie. Fortunately, it doesn't really faze me that they lost. I had fun and didn't really care about the score until the end, plus my friend made a fool of himself on the Kiss Kam.

Keep it coming! We all enjoy ND losing! :D

I'm kidding (sort of) - I was shocked to see ND come back in this game.

I'm no longer surprised by anything this team does. The lengths it will go to break the hearts of the South Bend faithful is amazing. At this point, I'm fully expecting ND to get to the Big East title game, have a big lead on their opponent, blow it, go to OT, take another big lead, blow it and lose, closely followed by the committee having ND as their first team out of the tournament. I mean, if I weren't an ND fan myself, I'd marvel at this season. You almost have to try to lose this many close games without getting a break yourself.

I thought that was you over there! I was in the left part of the main section, about halfway up. And I saw Bryan make a fool of himself on Kiss Kam too, he's in my Spanish class.

But yeah, Mizzou sucks.

Haha, there's a distinct possibility I was the only one making any noise on that side section. Dandridge(aka Gumby) is my new favorite player, I was yelling for him to come in the whole game. I think I saw you during a timeout too.

At least there was free pizza.

Haha yes, you were the only one into it. I was impressed. And I HATE Dandridge, haha. Watkins and Snyder are eerily similar in their lack of ability to make mid-game adjustments.

And free pizza is always good. $25,000 a year, I should get free pizza more often.

The Jackets are up on Duke 39-34 at the half. Lets see if Tech can play a full 40 minutes of basketball for the first time in a while. They've lost 6 ACC games when leading at halftime and Duke will be the toughest to hold off.

Sorry, MoJ. :(

That was probably the worst final 12 minutes played by any team in Division I basketball this season, with the exception of the other 5 times Tech has done the exact same thing.

5 points in the last 12 minutes ? 7 ACC loses when leading at the half ? Brutal.

You haven't seen bad basketball until you've seen Ball State at the end of any close games. They lose again tonight, 62-56 against Western. They missed at least 5 or 6 easy lay-ins. The wildly inconsistent officiating didn't help. Neither did the completely and utterly worthless Pat Nelson.

After playing like crap AGAIN in the first half, UCLA decided to show up in the second half against OSU and ended up blowing out the Beaves 78-60. Saturday is Senior Day at Pauley against Oregon.

Cal remains tied with UCLA for first place after they held on in Pullman to beat Wazzou 44-42. Cal goes to Seattle to play U-Dub next (who's only 1 game back of first). Then, UCLA travels to Berkeley to play Cal next Thursday.

You guys are having a tough year. Are you still happy with that coach from Siena?

I am. It's tough to replace 88% of your offense and the top 6 players in minutes/game. No team in Division I has seen more minutes played by Freshman and Sophomores than Georgia Tech. I thought they'd be further along at this point with the level of talent on the roster, but I underestimated again, the importance of leadership at the point*. Look no further than the 9 losses by less than eight points this season --- 7 of those in ACC play. The reason Tech played for the Title two years ago was purely based on who handled the ball. This year, it's not happening.

Tech is going to be a lot better next year adding two of the top players at their position, particularly Crittendon at the point. I think next year they will be a tournament caliber team without question. The following year they could be poised for the deep run.

*see Wake Forest as well after Chris Paul's departure (2-10 in the ACC with basically everyone returning but Paul)

You sure? I figure KU, UNC, and Memphis State give them a run for their $ in that stat.

They are know referred to as "the university of Memphis" as I was told repeatedly on my recent trip there.

Calipari is a very good coach, but I wonder how long before the NCAA looks into things?
