I would like to see Nomar back but if the Cubs can find a decent alternative other than giving Furcal double what he's worth then I wouldn't object to Nomar walking.

Why would a gossip columnist get the scoop on this before the beat guys?

I can envision a few scenarios. If a waiter in a fancy restaurant that is frequented by celebrities overhears something he might call a gossip columnist before a sportswriter. Maybe somebody overheard something at a party? Who knows?

That might be a good question to pose to Bruce Miles.

Maybe it's time to fire up the Bruce Signal

I am not familiar with Sneed's column, so I went through and read some back issues, and there are numerous reports of sightings of celebrities in various establishments, so it is entirely possible that a waiter overheard something. No doubt a gossip writer would have sources in various swanky restaurants/clubs/bars.

bunch of crap. Sneed knows nothing.

Not true. Sneed knows that John Malkovich dined with actress Dana Delaney at Tavern on Rush Thursday.

I think a better question would be what is frostwyrm doing reading the gossip columns. :D

Lucky Malkovich.

If you think that's juicy, get a load of this: More sightings of the rumored celluloid coo couple, Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn. The duo dined at Gibson's Thursday night, sipped after-dinner drinks at Tavern on Rush and capped the night off at Bella Lounge. Sure sounds like the pair, who claim to be "just friends," are doing a good job getting spotted together all over town.

Would that be Tim or 1908?

Yes, a true Tale of Ribaldry.

I would say 1908 since he is a batman fan....I think.

I wonder if Bruce is staying away and letting the "writers" that like to guess guess and is waiting until he has a solid lead before commenting. It's a novel idea to have a writer actually do that. :D

I see Bruce lurking... :D

That's well and good, but is the rumor true that actors Tom Cruise and pregnant fiancee Katie Holmes will reserve the entire Ritz-Carlton hotel in Cancun, Mexico, for their whispered-about shotgun wedding at the end of November? Can Bruce confirm this?

Step away from the gossip columns frostwyrm, before it's too late. :D

Why are so many of us wanting Nomar back, yet we complained about Hendry having too many injury risks on the team last season? I admit, I'm as guilty as anyone. But it seems a little hypocritical. The other injury risks (Wood, Ramirez, Prior) aren't going anywhere, so you'd think we would want to get less injury friendly.

I only want him back in a utility role, and at about $3m. Counting on him on a full time basis is asking for dissapointment.
