I am going out on a limb here and not many are going to like it. Cubs deal Walker Patterson and another for Soriano, bad move i just see it coming.

I hope not. I like Soriano but he just isn't a right fit right now for the Cubs. He is a Hendry player though. A player who hits homers and Ks a lot.

I would hope this would mean Nomar in left or right, Cedeno at short, and Walker at 2nd. Get a good leadoff CFer, and then focus on the bullpen.

Just because the option has been picked up doesn't mean he won't be traded.

Considering it was Hendry and his approach toward players, I think it is unlikely that Hendry would trade Walker based on the extreme discount he signed with us at. That is, unless, someone made him an offer he couldn't refuse, or if Walker agreed to be traded to certain teams.

I have read a lot of stuff on cedeno going to play 2nd at winter ball, why would the organisation do this if he was either coming back to play short or Backing up at 2nd just cant see that i think unfortunately todd will be traded.

Walker asked the Cubs to decline the option if they had plans on trading him, stating that he'd like to be able to choose where he plays next year if the Cubs didn't want him. I can definitely see Hendry honoring his request.

Maybe, but at the end it still is a request and it can be denied if necessary. Walker is a good trading chip right now. I'm nto against Walker being here, i actually think he's good but it will all depend on what direction Hendry takes.

No of us knows what's going to happen, but Hendry may have looked at Dusty and realized that Dusty wouldn't play Cedeno anyhow, so re-sign Walker, go after Furcal, and use Cedeno as a middle infield sub or as trade bait.

If that's the case Hendry is an idiot for not firing Dusty.

i still see cedeno starting at ss & walker at 2b in 2006.

If that's the case we better have a new CF and RF to go with Murton if we want to be successful.

i agree that they are both a must. how about trading for wilkerson (assuming he's available) to play center & tracy to play right?

Wherever Nomar plays, the Cubs better have a great second option available since I'm already assuming Nomar will miss at least forty games. If he does re-sign with the Cubs, I hope it's not for a high base salary. I'm looking at the bench now and wondering how much it would take to pick up Marlon Anderson and Eduardo Perez.

I don't care about walker. Neifi is by far the better player. Just look at his D.

Dusty? Is that you?

Cubs.com confirms that Walker's option was picked up, as well as Williamson's.

Nice! Good to see Williamson back.

So far, we have two good moves (Walker and Williamson), one debatable move that will probably turn out to be positive (Dempster) and one move that probably shouldn't have been made (Rusch). I'll take that.
