According to that source, Grady Little has taken a job with Milwaukee. I hadn't heard anything about that.

Yeah the rumor has Grady Little taking a bench job with the Brewers. He hasn't offically taken it, but he is in the running.

And there might be some rumor about Dusty might be heading to the Dodgers.

A source told the Los Angeles Times that Dodgers GM Paul DePodesta still could be let go this winter.

A high-ranking American League East official said many believe the job might open up. DePodesta's first year at the helm resulted in a division title, and while 2005 was a disappointment and DePodesta deserves some blame for investing as much money as he did in injury-prone players, the Dodgers were unluckier than any team has a right to be. Firing DePodesta would result only in better press, not a superior team. Oct. 23 - 4:10 am et

I know it doesn't mention Baker, or anything relating to Baker. But it does tell me that the Dodgers might be interested in going another direction. And depending on who the Dodgers would replace DEPO with, there is a possibility they might be interested in bringing Baker in to manage the Dodger. I know, one can hope, but still.....

It was a very well written story. I think every Cub fan this side of ZZ Thorn would be happy if Dusty departed.

Odds on happening 1:2007 (year Dusty will leave after he signs his extension).

Odds on happening if Depo leaves 1:40 (roughly the number of qualified applicants).

I'm thinking Orel Hershiser will be getting the job.

I'm thinking the Dodger job will go to Hershiser. He's young and has the pedigree.

If Depodesta leaves, I guess that would make it more likely that Dusty is gone. I honestly don't think there's much to this rumor, but if Dusty is gone...Fredi Gonzalez please!

Why all the Hoops hate at desipio?

They're a place that has a lot of running jokes and gimmicks. Hoops occasionally writes in to some columns and gets his trade ideas published every now and again, and this is a website dedicated to openly mocking most Chicago sports columnists, so yeah.

No, Hoops gets no respect at Desipio because he throws a jillion [expletive]-a-mamie trade ideas out there, none of which are any different than the trade ideas you and I pass around with our buddies over a beer, and this site treats them as if they somehow are "inside dirt" about pending deals. Who has "player X getting traded for player Y" on their radar, are you kidding me? If you make a long-enough list, eventually one of those things will happen, especially if X or Y has been talked about in X or Y's hometown press, or in the national rumor sites like rotoworld.

You want "inside dirt"? Get Jim Hendry or another of the league GM's to post here. Otherwise, it's all just rumor and random thoughts. And there's nothing wrong with that, in fact it's fun--so long as such things are kept in context. When they are treated otherwise, then they are open to ridicule and contempt.

I doubt that Hershiser works in the DePo environment. Hershiser wants more control and a more hands off GM. I would expect Terry Collins who was the front runner to get the job.

Bringing this topic back to the front because:

The Dodgers are set to fire general manager Paul DePodesta, highly placed sources in the organization told the Los Angeles Times.

DePodesta was just such a moron to let Adrian Beltre, Steve Finley, Shawn Green and Alex Cora go. Sure, the Dodgers wouldn't have had any better of a record if they had been kept and would be in worse position entering 2006, but the press would be content and that's what matters. Not only is DePodesta being terminated after just two seasons, but in the first of those seasons, his team won the division. If the Dodgers can replace DePodesta with Pat Gillick, they'd likely be OK. They'll probably hire someone a lot worse. Oct. 29 - 3:47 am et

for the love of god, make the Dodgers believe Baker can bring them back to respectability. And plz make Baker beg for the Dodgers. Plz......

Who could we demand back from LA as compensation (ala Sweet Lou for Randy Winn)? I'd take Odalis in return...

I'd settle for a half-eaten cheese sandwich and a cup of cold coffee.

So would I, but that's not the point. If they want him, we have the right to see what we could get out of them. They're also in dump Bradley mode right now, and they want to shed Lowe's salary. I don't think they expect to get anything good in return for those two. We might be able to get one of them (I'd take Bradley, not Lowe) in return if we asked.
