Phil Garner just called Lidge lights-out. High praise for someone who took three out of your last five losses.

good thing they took in in 4 because Sox fans can't count higher then that

Don't be petty. They got in the crapshoot and they won it. I'm going to punch the nearest person in the face every time I hear about Guillen's brilliance or Smartball though.

I'm glad the Sox fans (the classy ones anyway) got to celebrate a title. I'm just bummed that we couldn't do it first.

This is true.

I don't mind the ones who attended games back in April & May, or who accually know the roster, & don't have to look at the back of their playoff shirt. At least they have some class & respect.

But for the BS 'fans,' screw them. Luckily they're not contaminating the name of Cubs fans any longer, & can go get drunk & act like the fools they are. Because we all know "CUBS SUCK" is going to be said a lot the next few days.. Figures. They're 'team' just won for the first time since 1917 & all they can think of is our 'losers.'

I turned the tv off once Buck started talking about the Sox no longer being the second team in the second city

Yeah, me too. That one stung.

Well, the season is officially over now. Time for the hot stove league. Time for the free agent signings. Time for the trading to begin. Time for Jim Hendry to step up to the plate and rebuild this team into a championship caliber team. Come on Jim, don't let us down !!

What could be better than the CUBS beating the white sox in 2006 in a rematch of the 1906 debacle ???

You kept it on to see the celebration? I turned it off after the bottom of the eighth.

My dad is 55 and survived two bouts with cancer. He told me several times that he never thought the Sox would win it all before he died. He has since recovered from cancer, but he held on to that belief that they wouldn't win it. I just called him to congratulate him and I am more than a little jealous of how he is feeling right now.

Congrats Dad, and Sox fans like you. Whatever happens to you in the future, you got your title. I hope I get to feel that way some day.

I just saw a site that said "THE CHICAGO WHITE SOX- THE ONE AND ONLY CHICAGO TEAM."

Such class.

That might be the only way to shut people up now.

Man, either ABC/NBC needs to step up their baseball package, when it comes up for negotiations (if FOX has re-upped) or Fox needs to move McCarver and Buck as the #1 baseball broadcasting team. They were absolutely brutal in their game calling. Heck, I watch part of the Series on Fox, and listen on ESPN Radio.

I held out a fools hope that they Stros could hit a popup into the boxes.

Although I am sure that many Sox fans will truly enjoy the moment, I laugh at all of the Sox fans that are more occupied with the Cubs not winning the title than the fact that the Sox just did.

Yeah, it actually seems that half of their fans are more concerned with letting Cub fans know that we didnt win the world series, as opposed to celebrating that they did.

1918 fell last year, 1917 this year. Is there a trend (1908)?

No.

Maybe in 9 years?

The Cubs HAD their chance in 2003, and they blew it.

And the Cards had their chance in 2004 and 2005. Is their window closed? I thought we had a better run for it in 05, but what do I know?

Jim Hendry can take the sting out of this by announcing tomorrow that he won't be picking up Burnitz's option and that he intends to let Jose Macias and Neifi Perez walk. I know that asking for Dusty Baker's firing might be a little too much to ask for.

That would be a nice consolation prize.

I really hope Hendry, FrankenHughes and MacPhail hit the ground running tomorrow.

Don't count on it. I expect Hendry to wait around again and pick up the leftovers after all the prizes are signed. Sigh

well, congrats to the white sox i guess. all year i said it was a fluke, they werent good enough, they caught too many breaks, their pitching was over performing. they proved me wrong, unfortunately. im not as upset as i thought i would be because im trying my hardest to just not even pay attention to it. oh well, free agency starts soon enough. maybe jimbo can give us all somethign to look forward to.
