Obviously he can't execute on the field and I didn't find any of his moves in the post season that questionable.

But given his inability to win the big one, is he that unlucky or does he manage in way where his players performances are affected, too tight, etc?

Why does his above average offense disappear?

Hello, everyone. This is my first post here. I would just like that I'm glad to be here, but I must say I am a Cardinal fan, but I look forward to talking baseball with you all.

I was indeed disappointed with the Cards performance against the Astros, it seemed too reminiscent of the WS against the Red Sox.

In regards to LaRussa's managing style, I have gradually began to believe that a change is necessary for the Cards. LaRussa seems to be very uptight during the playoffs (his single WS championship no doubt weighing on his mind) and that attitude may transmit to his players. Plus, his over-realiance on "veterans" may hurt us as well. After 162 games and various injuries, veterans may be too tired to perform up to snuff in the playoffs. It seemed to me the only Cards to hit the ball with any semblance of consistency were Pujols, Molina, Eckstein, and Rodriguez, all 30 or younger.

All in all, I hope LaRussa opens his mind to younger talent and learns to be more relax and be more aggressive during the playoffs. I remarked to a friend of mine during the past series "The Astros are winning right now because they're playing just like the Cardinals did during the regular season." For whatever reason, LaRussa's team becomes as stiff as a corpse during the post-season. I hope it changes...

That said, I'm glad to be here and look forward to posting here in the future.

power pitching shuts it down. Nobody on our team except Pujols can hit a fastball.

We ripped the Padres a new one. We couldn't hit Oswalt for anything.

We Cubs fans can relate to that.

Everything 92+ is too fast for everyone except Edmonds (when healthy), Rolen, and Pujols.

I'm not sure Jimmy can hit 92+ anymore.

First off welcome Fred Burke!!!

I don't agree with all the stuff TLR does however after witnessing the train wreck here in Chicago *cough* Dusty *cough* Baker *cough* I gotta say I'm pretty happy to have him.

Another way I look at it is Walt Jocketty, Dave Duncan and TLR are a package that follows each other everywhere. Do you really want to lose Jocketty and Duncan? This group has had success everywhere they've gone. I say keep em'!

His shoulder, wrist, and ribs are hurt. That could slow down the whole swinging, turning, and striding thing.

Someone may want to suggest running through the catch instead of all the useless dives for showboating then. Apparently, it's fun to watch but is hurting the team if it causes or contributes to those nagging injuries.

Edmonds did look overmatched in the LCS. I was surprised how old Walker looked, too. As for the over-reliance on vets, who would you guys have liked to have seen in the game, and at who's expense?

Rodriguez over Walker? Something else?

I can't say I would liked to have seen anything different. Larry Walker is still Larry Walker, despite all the injuries. J Rod I don't really trust, though he did hit what would have been a go ahead homerun in game 4 were it not for that idiotic hill in center field.

TLR put the starters out there and they didn't get it done. I don't think throwing Luna, Gooch, or Rodriguez out there would have made any difference. The only guy that might have made a difference would have been Scott Rolen.

What "nagging injuries"? Edmonds played in more games than all but 3 Cardinals. He played in more games than all but 3 Cubs. He had a .899 OPS in September, so the "nagging injuries" weren't exactly hurting the team. He had an .872 OPS in the playoffs (2nd to Pujols). Does somebody want to explain to me what the problem is?

I think people are making alot of assumptions that aren't necessarily true. Edmonds is 35 years old, and probably on the downhill side of his career, but he's still a highly productive player.
