Not living in Chicago, I haven't even heard any Jeff George talk. Are you kidding me? What has that guy ever won? He ain't the difference between this team being what it is and this team getting to the next level.

If the Bears can make the playoffs with what they got, a soft schedule and a ridiculous division, its something to build on. Winning eight games with a "veteran" qb that will be gone next year for Grossman won't accomplish a damm thing.

If the Bears make the playoffs with Orton under center, it better be his job to lose to Grossman in training camp. I am tired of all this Grossman talk and if Orton can lead us to the playoffs, there is no reason why he shouldn't start again next year.

I is important to remember that this the Bears may be able to make the playoffs with .500 (or worse) record.

Yeah, and if they win 6 or 7 games this year, with Orton under center, he'll still go into 2006 as the most accomplished Bears QB.

Very true. Grossman is what 3-3?

What I'm really hoping for is a Bears team that wins the division and gets a dome team to come to Soldier Field in January for the Wild Card round; just because I think it would be weird for this team, clearly not a great team, to be the most accomplished Bears team since Wanny's team upset the Vikings when I was in high school.

What about the year the Bears had the first round bye. 13-3 season under Juron in 2001.

Forgot to add, the Bears are 2 or 3 point underdogs, depending on the source, and the over/under is anywhere from 34.5 to 36.

I think I'd give the points and take the under.

I'm not very confident in the team this week. Maybe if the Browns didn't have a bye last week I'd be giving the Bears some points just for having the extra rest and practice time for Orton/Bradley/Benson.

17-13 Cleveland.

I think he's saying if they host a dome team in January they could win, which would make them the more accomplished than the 2001 team that lost it's only playoff game. But really, that team had a bye, and this team would be playing the bye week before losing in the divisional round (assuming they even got there).

If this year's team finishes worse than 13-3, and doesn't win in the divisional round, I can't see how we could call it more accomplished than 2001.

I will withhold comment on this football game.

Too late. Haven't you already commented just by saying that you're withholding comment? :?:

I've gone and confused myself! :( :?

Fair points, both of you.

I graduated high school in 1995 and while I rooted for the Bears, I was primarily a baseball (Cubs) -basketball (Jazz) guy. My college roommate (he was from TN I was from PA) was a Cubs-Bulls-Bears guy (how's that for coincidence, to huge Cubs fans from non-ILL parts of the country paired together in Baltimore.) Since then I became a much larger Bears fan.

But, since then the Bears haven't won even one playoff game. I don't care how it happens, when they win one it will be their biggest win since I've went from 'casual' to 'big' fan.

Oh you poor fool. How did you get suckered in?

Do you mean to the Cubs, or the Bears?

The Bears followed the Cubs for obvious reasons.

The Cubs, well my first game was a Cubs-Phillies game my friend Steve took me to. (First exposure to probaseball at any time, all my sports rooting was for Penn State football) I rooted for the Cubs to be irritating. Sandberg hit a homer, Scmidt hit a homer for the Phillies...great game, Cubs just barely win....I was hooked.

I too have never seen the Bears win a playoff game while rooting for them. :(

i've never seen a bengals playoff game while rooting for them.

Bradley will be starting instead of Gage Sunday.

Oh, and please win.

Totally forgot that Justin Gage is on the Bears... how's the Mizzou alum doing this year?

I will be at this game. Never been to Cleveland so I am very excited.

Just a word of warning, and I have no first hand evidence to back it up. But apparently visiting team fans aren't treated well AT ALL in Cleveland. I mean, AT ALL. Just so you know. Browns fans are surprisingly die-hard.

Thanks for the warning. I will try not to be "that guy" I do hope it is not as bad as I saw Eagles fans get treated at the playoffs a few years ago at Soldier. I felt terrible for those people. There was almost a riot in one of the bathrooms.

Wait, so Philadelphia fans aren't the only ones in sports who are belligerent? Shocking!:)

Yeah, I can back that up. Usually with baseball you are pretty safe. But with football, the drunks get a little more noisey. :?

Yes, Browns fans are pretty die hard. Wasn't too long ago they had to end a game because fans threw all those beer bottles on the field.

Haha, that was sweet.

I guess I'm the only Carolina Panthers fan on this board. I'd like to issue my sincerest annoyances that you Bears fans made all the Panthers-Bears tickets like 100 bucks on the Internet. Quite disappointing.

Around 2000. Long story short, my friend is a die hard Browns fan, so to make him mad I pretended to like the Bengals, but then I really did fall in love with them. But when I first fell in love with them, no one liked them, so I did it to be different. Now everyone in my town loves the Bengals now. :(

It's very underrated, or so I am told. Check out the R&R Hall of Fame while you're there.

Meh. The stadium is pretty nice I'm told, but Cleveland isn't a super-cool town. Tower City's pretty neat, but it's no more special than other similar places(Mag Mile, Union Station in STL, etc.) IIRC, the stadium is right on the lake, so count on cooler temps than the forecast predicts.

Lake's probably 75 degrees, the high for the day is 61. The lake will keep it warmer if it has any effect.

Wow, not many people became a Bengals fan in that era. The reason I asked was because I have very fond memories of the Icky Shuffle and the 89 Super Bowl, even though I was only 10. I couldn't see many people becoming Bengals fans much after that but I too have liked many a team just to piss my friends off. That is how I kind of became a closet Miami Hurricanes fan.
