same, he probably worked hard to get where he is at right now at this point in his life, (probably harder than some GM's do in their whole career)

I wish him luck.

Give him Boston's budget and he'll do fine. Guy will probably be fired in 3 years.

Why, just because he's "young?"

Send him some equally young arms for Mench. He's got the keys, you know he wants to drive.

Can Mench play right? I don't know if Mench is a big enough upgrade to bench Murton over.

He started 36 games in right this year.

If I couldn't sign Giles, he might make a nice plan B.

That and it's Texas. They never have adequate pitching. Give Hendry Theo's money and the Cubs would be playing tomorrow.

beginning the season with Holly as a starting LF is the kind of thing that derailed us, not a small budget. A good GM doesn't need 150 mil to assemble a division championship team.

"Young people can kind of do things in this life."

I found this quote from Tom Hicks to be hilarious.

go back more and it gets funnier

" I did my first leveraged buyout when I was about that age. Young people can kind of do things in this life.""

edit: and this guy looks younger than 28.

Holly was platooning w/ DuBois right?? As I recall, many were happy w/ this platoon. Did you not want to see DuBois get a chance?? Besides RF, I recall most people being content w/ the lineup.

I wonder why age has to matter? There have been tons of crappy 40-55 year old GM's in baseball. To hit home, how old were Larry Himes and Ed Lynch?

Right but how many were fans of Nomar getting hurt and Neifi playing everyday? Plus we didn't think Neifi would leadoff half the year either. Fun times the Cubs fans had in 05.

He'll be baseball's youngest GM. Thoughts?

He's got some tough decisions to make:

(1) Should he or should he not trade Alfonso Soriano and/or Kevin Mench for starting pitching?

(2) Can he get Boras to agree to an extension for Teixeira to cover his arbitration years at a price the Rangers can afford, or is it better to go with one-year deals until free agency?

(3) Should they move Michael Young to 2B?

There's probably several more.

An addedum to #2 is if they can't get an extension for Tex, should they try to trade him while his value is so high?

And if they decide to trade Tex and he can still play LF, I'd hope the Cubs would be all over that!
