I guess we can call this another one of our pitchers performing much better after leaving Chicago. Maybe Rothschild isn't as good as everyone thought?? :chin:

Or maybe he's pitching better due to not pitching in a pressure-packed situation/team/city?

Also a good explanation. It just seems like when pitchers leave Chicago they pitch better, for the most part.

I understand that as well but leaving Chicago/Rothschild wouldn't explain why he pitched well in Chicago under Rothschild in 2002 and 2003. It is aggravating to see players perform poorly in Chicago and see them succeed elsewhere (that's why I'm hesitant to let Corey Patterson go.)

Juan Cruz sure hasn't.

What happened to him? Where is he now?

2004: 1.26 WHIP, 2.75 ERA, 8.75 K/9

Early part of the year this year he got hit pretty hard but he has since gone down to AAA to be converted back to a starter and has dominated putting up a 2.65 ERA, 1.09 WHIP, and an 11.51 K/9 line.

I have lost all faith in rothschild. Not that this is all (or at all) his fault. But there are too many cases of pitchers playing below potential and other assorted things. I just want him gone. Sad thing is, I used to really like him. Same with Dusty.

Anyways, I'm happy to see JoBo doing well. I really liked him, and he was one helluva guy. He deserves every good thign that comes his way.

I think its just one of those things where a NL pitcher "fools" the AL pitchers cause they have never seen him before. Yah, im calling it a fluke.

Some of it could be due to going to the AL where opposition hitters haven't seen him, then again, maybe he just found a way to put it together again - who knows.

We tend to think about all the guys who've left Chicago and gone on to do really well, but we forget about guys like Cruz and Remlinger who've done nothing.

Sometimes you just can't figure out baseball - I guess that's one of the things that makes it fun.

Well, thers your answer right there. Jobo is only facing AL pitchers. Thats like facing a special olympic team.

Did you see the numbers I posted for Juan? Honestly, I wouldn't mind us trading for him this offseason and seeing him as part of our pen.

there is zero pressure to perform in TB. Much easier to go out and pitch when there are 50 people in the stands and no one expects anything of you
