If they are going to use a thowback, it's gotta be this logo.

1) That is a great logo. I own the hat, too -- and I don't really wear hats.

2) The blue alternate jersey should be worn very, very rarely and never at home. Straight white with pinstripes at home and grey on the road. It's classic. Its' the way it's meant to be.

3) Sleeveless jerseys are for softball. Let's keep it that way.

If it were up to me, I'd ditch the pinstripes and go with the retro-ized red C logo with the little bear in the middle.

I think it looks too much like the current Reds' C. And I like the blue pinstripes... I grew up seeing that.

I dunno, that waving cub looks kinda wussie to me - unless you're making a statement about the team intentionally. :P

I think that fate was decided when the team was named "Cubs" instead of "Bears." Embrace.

One more suggestion: Use the sleeveless tops as an alternate uni. After all, the Cubs were the first to go sleeveless, back in 1940.

Ugh, please no sleeveless. I think those are extremely ugly.

I agree. Plus, sleeveless jerseys seem stupid from a marketing standpoint.

Few people, other than a very select population, would wear sleeveless jerseys to games and such as they require you to wear another shirt underneath. That sounds pretty freaking uncomfortable to me sitting in the stands on a 95 degree day with two shirts on.

Sleeveless jerseys are a bad idea.

Most people wear a t shirt under their jersey anyway. (I do not support sleeveless jerseys.)

Ahem...

Man, great find. That's hilarious.

And wrong. So, so wrong.

Man, I love that uniform website.

A few other uniform ideas...

Anybody remember these?

The daring innovation here (apart from all of the orange) is the number on the road pants is underlined.

What makes these uni's so appealing is that the glare coming from the day-glo stripes might interfere with the hitters' eyesight/concentration.

I kind of like these, worn by the 1906 Giants.

Wear 'em long enough and it's bound to happen.

But if you really want to make a bold statement, one that says, "Hey, I'm secure in my masculinity," how about ressurrecting this uniform from 1916 (NY Giants)...

Hmmm, wonder why it never caught on?

Because it would look weird without a shirt, cool guy or not.

WELL

we had sleeveless jerseys for baseball my freshman year.

one time we all wore them to a game, and all the ladies in the house said yeah, but the umpire said no, so we had to wear shirts under them. but they were still cool.

Hah, okay. But I'm sure there some people who just couldn't pull it off.

I wish all players had to wear their pants high. I hate when you can't see the stirups...but I really prefer the colored socks ala Prior, Walker, Nomar (of late) and others. I really hate when players wear their pants so long they cover the shoes like Bonds and Aramis seem to.

...and Hairston, D. Lee, Farnsworth, etc. I don't get it, but they go to great lengths. Heck, I think Hairston even pulls the back of the pant leg down so far so as to 'hook' it on his heel-spikes. Strange, I know. I wonder why?

in high school baseball, EVERYONE wears their socks high. except me. all the cool major leaguers had no visible socks, so i didn't either.

unfortunately, i just looked dorky instead of cool.

Someone tell me what is so bad about the blue? I happen to really like the blue.

Me too, I dig the alternate jerseys.

Yeah! I have another rider on the blue jersey BandWGN. Let's make them see the light, even by force if we have to!

1929:

I know some people have an attachment to the pinstripes and the current logo (the red C with the 'ubs' inside), but the pinstripes were not used regularly until 1957 and the C'ubs' logo only became a standard feature after 1937. Yeah, I know all about maintaining tradition, but the team had a better record when they weren't using pinstripes with the now-standard logo - so screw tradition. :o

1916

I think a variation of the 1916 combined with the logo on the blue alternates would look good combine the old with the new. Both are of a walking bear cub

are you sure it was the socks and not the sleeveless shirt w/ no undershirt?

The navy BP unis are nice, and I think I like that more than the royal blue, but navy isn't our color. Besides, we'd look just like the Twins (some Johnny come lately getting our own midget, pappy.)

The alt-unis get waaay too much wear, but I guess the players like them. Should be a once-a-week uniform, at most. I'm partial to the 60's look, but I grew up with the Cubs in pinstripes, so I'd vote to stick with them.

The grey road unis are fine - teams wear white at home, grey on the road. Home uni has the logo, road uni has the city name. That's how it should be. The one positive thing I'll say about the Yankees is that they haven't given in to the alt-uniform craze. And at least we don't have a mustard colored road uniform (SD).

Well, unfortunately they let the pitcher each day decide the uniforms, and Zambrano and Rusch always go blue. Maddux always goes traditional. I think Prior goes white at home and blue on the road?

I can't even picture Zambrano in a white or grey uniform. Sad.

The Blue jerseys are fugly because they look like spring training or warm up jerseys. They are always baggy and look untailored. Plus the logo is dumb, and they wear them WAYYYYY too often.

I think the alternate jerseys look like jammies.

At home, we should always wear white, no matter what.

IMO, the home pants with the alternate blue jersey just looks stupid.

All grey on the road is a good look, but the alternate jersey could be worn with the grey pants, and it doesn't offend me.

The team's primary color is blue right? Wouldn't it make sense for them to wear a jersey with that color? The blues should be the normal road jerseys. Get rid of the horrible, sweat pants looking gray uniforms. I don't care if it does say "Chicago" across the front. The team looks stupid in them.
