I'm going to be going on a hiatus from posting regularly here starting on Tuesday for about a week or so. I'm moving in to my new apartment and won't have access to the internet until I make some phone calls and get everything installed. There are also some problems that might delay me getting online regularly for a little longer, but I will be checking in sporadically from friend's houses and the student union.

I'll hopefully be back sooner than I think! Some other people here on NSBB will be taking over for me during that time, so you won't miss a beat!

Boise: RHP Mitch Atkins (1-5, 5.59 ERA) @ Sergio Romo (5-0, 1.58 ERA)

I hope I got the Mesa starter right.

Something tells me that this may be the most anticipated Mesa game this year...

Guzman started last Thursday, and the Cubs have said all along they want him starting every fifth day, so, though I may be wrong, I think he goes tomorrow and not tonight.

South Bend's starter tonight is RH Ross Ohlendorf (8-9, 4.88 ERA) 120 strikeouts.

Should be an interesting series since 1. We havent played in 2 days, 2. they had a DH Sunday 3. South Bend ran away with the first half title and is in first again this half 4. The two teams HAVE NOT played at all this year and 5. They are hitting .278 as a team with 102 homers, both which lead the league...

I have Angel going last Wednesday and Pina going last Thursday, which would be the proper 4-days rest (this based on the 8/10 and 8/11 game threads). Also, Guzman went after Pawelek last time and Mark was Mesa's last starter.

Thanks, Nathan! I'll edit that in.

Right you are. Sorry. I'll shut up now. :)

hill throwing a lot of fastballs so far. announcer says he's spotting them very well.

hill goes to a three ball count for the first time tonight before giving up his first hit.

Posted

3 ip, 3 hits, 5 k's, 1 er so far for hill.

run scored in the third on three straight ground ball singles. he also got two ground ball outs that inning, so all the ground balls are a pleasant change for him.

Posted

only one out in the air so far for hill.

at least one more k (missed the third out cheering for patterson running around the bases) in a perfect fourth for hill.

Posted

8 k's thru 5 for hill. perfect innings in four of the five innings.

if you have the right set up, you can simultaneously listen to hill dominate hitters while rusch sucks up the town. it's fun, you kids should try it.

Posted

10 k's thru six for hill. first pitch strikes to 15 of 24 hitters.

omaha gets one after a leadoff walk scores on a ground ball single off lewis' glove.

4-2 iowa...hill likely done after 103 pitches.

Chiefs rallying in the 8th to make it 5-4 Silverhawks!

Eric Patterson has 2 doubles: one off the wall in RF, one off the wall in LF. But gets caught stealing 3B for the second out in the 8th. :( And Jesse Schmidt immediately doubles!

Ryan Harvey didn't start ... tight hamstrings again ... did PH in the 8th and singled, but was lifted immediately for Bo Flowers to PR.

Another 3-hit game for Ronny with a pair of RBIs to go along with a double and a walk.

the cubs are in a tight spot...they need to see if nomar's worth re-signing, but at the same time, they need to see if cedeno's ready to step into the job next season. unless cedeno plays 2b (and you bench -- and tick off -- your 2006 2b) that ain't gonna happen. plus, the cubs seem to still think they're in this thing...

Hmmm, if only he had 100 game opportunity to prove himself this year....

so am i correct in thinking that Mesa didn't play yesterday, and thus Angel Guzman did not pitch?

Mesa box score says Guzman pitched 3 innings, 3 hits,0 ER, 0 BB, 3 K
