The Cards called up a rookie to pitch Tuesday so LaRussa can line up his pitchers for the Cub series. If LaRussa had been paying attention, he could have used the rookie against us and saved his real pitchers for some other team.

Hahaha, poor LaRussa.

why would he not use the rookie against the Cubs... I mean, they never hit rookies worth a damn and usually end up getting owned...

heck, he's doing the Cubs a favor by not starting him vs. the Cubs.

The question is why would he make any moves to prepare for the Cubs. Is he worried that the 17 game gap between the teams could be made up in the blink of an eye?

That's exactly the kind of thing winning organizations do worry about.

Or PARANOID organizations.

My guess is he is trying to prepare his front line starters for the playoffs by putting them in a playoff-like atmosphere.

No matter what the standings, Cubs-Cardinals games always have that.

Something tells "playoff atmosphere" will not be in the air when the Cubs/Cards play. You can thank the recent play of the Cubs for that.

Actually, I expect the Cubs to win 3 of 4 to try and mess with the fans minds just a little bit more.

talk about over managing!

I'll take it over Dusty F. Baker's undermanaging.

The word "managing" does not belong anywhere near Dusty Baker.

Lets just say: Dusty is under.

Well with the playoffs gone, our only sense of completion can come from beating the hated Redbirds.

Kinda like the Bears and the Packers.
