9-4 finish... all 4 Cubs runs came in the 9th, when the offense finally woke up after 8 innings of slumbering.

This is a joke. Either start laughing or you're gonna die an early death because of the stress on your heart, worrying about a team that just plain doesn't care about its season anymore.

The only upside to tonight's game is the possibility that they intentionally threw the game so as to expediate their manager's demise.

It feels like that's what it had come down to. It sounds awful to say, but every game is almost a win-win situation :(

Wow! I'd hate to see how bummed you'd be if it were a lose-lose situation.

Hmm....I would agree. They lack heart.

For about the last 30 years I have been in higher education. I also, when I was younger, coached youth sports through the local YMCA. One thing I have learned is to trust my "gut feeling." Some would call that way of knowing the "still small voice". Others might be more religious and refer to it as the voice of the spirit.

Regardless, I could always tell , from this gut feeling, when a class would turn out fairly well, or when a team I coached was gong to win.

Last June the 16th, right before the start of the series with the Yankees, I just got this bad feeling. I mean really bad. I can't explain it, but I know what I felt. Talk about a downer. Maybe I was psychic or something. Anyway I stopped watching the games. I had spent all the money for Extra Innings and digital cable, but I just stopped watching the games.

I have always checked the box scores, and read some of the posts at various forums, but I just stopped watching the games. I feel better physically, But I still grieve. I almost watched the game tonight. But there was this storm which shut down cable TV.

This just isn't right. I know teams can't win all of the time. But this is different. They just don't [censor mode] cuddling[/censor mode] care. They ought to be ashamed. But they aren't.

Excuse the rant folks. I am new here and shouldn't have vented so much. But I believe you folks understand. 8)

Our current losing streak reminds me of losing 13 in a row to start the season about a decade ago. Average team playing horrible baseball.

Len and Bren hit the nail on the head. No O so our pitchers are pressing from the first pitch. And being down by the 3rd inning every game makes our hitters start to press.

Or maybe we just stink.

I thought this quote was pretty funny from Rittenburg's Daily Herald column:

"The Cubs managed only 2 hits in 7 innings against Reds left-hander Brandon Claussen (7-8), who entered Monday with a 9.42 ERA in the second half. Claussen joins Jae Seo and Brad Halsey in a group of seemingly anonymous pitchers who have recently dominated the Cubs."

Seemingly anonymous. Kind of like the Cubs right now.......

That's weird....that emoticon showed up when I didn't put it in there.

Because you put 8 ) without the space. That is how you write 8)

You can turn off before you make your post, or you can just put a space there.
