I was looking at a list of free agents and saw their names. Have the Cards gave either an extension?? If not, I'd love to see the Cubs go after one of them. Kerry Wood cannot be relied on as a #3 starter anymore, so the Cubs are essentially 1 starter short.

Ah I found that Mulder has a club option for $7.25 million next year and $8.5 million if he meets certain incentives. Will the Cards keep him?? He's beens solid, but far from spectacular.

Cubs are 3 starters short. Wood sucks. Maddux is done, unfortunately. And I don't feel confident with Williams/Rusch/Hill.

yeah wood sure sucks, boy oh boy i sure would hate to have a healthy kerry wood in my rotation, give me shawn estes!

now don't give me some crap about how "oh but he can't stay healthy" - if you meant that, you would have said that wood can't stay healthy - not that he sucks.

Carpenter signed an extension through 2007 with an option for 2008. As someone else said, Mulder has a team option for 2006.

everyone would love a healthy wood. but healthy or not it is a huge stretch to have to pay him 12 mil. that would be about 1 mil per win since his career high is 14.

if he can be moved....he has to be moved this off season. paying him that type of money will keep this team from moving forward unless everything clicks and he is the 20 game winner we hoped he's be, but it is a huge gamble to take at that price!

Well . . . IF he truly can't stay healthy (which I'm saying just for the sake of argument), then as far as I'm concerned, he does "suck." If you can't go out there with your best stuff, or you can't go out there at all, then you have very little value to your team.

:x I hate the Cards. Bet they got Carpenter cheap. Of course, if he came to Chicago he'd get hurt right away.

5 mil next year, 7 mil in '07, and I don't know how much the option is for. If any Cards fans have any info on that I'd appreciate it greatly.

A little thing? Now there's humility.
