Okay, somebody tell me the full story please.

I know Z walked off. Just give me the facts we no with no opinion involved (i.e. he's a crybaby, he is awesome for doing it)

Anyone??

when Z came off larry came over to talk to him, z shook his head, slit his throat and walked into the clubhouse, larry started to follow but z was obviously done. larry did look kinda perturbed but turned to baker to let him know z was done

I turned the game off earlier so I didn't see this. Interesting. I'm sure quite a few guys are feeling just like he is right now.

I was planning on taking my cubs hat with me while I go on vacation for the next few days, but I won't be doing that.

There's no way Murton should be in the majors. We should sign Marquis Grissom/

Is Ricky Henderson available?

Hey, I heard Jamie Moyer is available.

I heard Doug Dascenzo was at Ryno's induction ceremony - he was a CF wasn't he? :-P

he held the major league record for consecutive errorless games at CF at one time. . . don't know if it has been broken or not.

So Murton doesn't hit the ball to the right side to advance the runner to third and he gets a free pass? Oh, yeah, he's a kid, so fundamentals don't matter for kids.

I for one don't care about a player young or old trying to move a runner from second to third. I'd rather they worry about getting on base than the type of out they make.

You HAVE TO BRING THE HAT. If we only wore them when they're winning you'd never see a Cubs hat!

I think Macias is working on that - looks like he'll have to start it up again tomorrow though :-P

This offense has done nothing meaningful since Game 2 of the most recent Reds' series nearly a month ago.

You can say that again.

How many games is that, Fred?

17 games ..... our record, 6-11.

Friggin' Macias and his .296 average are killing this team! Why is he even on the roster?

If you're trying to defend Baker, you're really grasping at straws.

And you can't construct a reasonable argument for Holla playing over Matt, at least a this point. It is impossible. If Murton gets consistent AB's and is as bad as Holla has been, then things like Murton failing to move a runner might have some relevance.

Nevermind that he has been nothing short of atrocious in CF, and has cost us runs. But he has a .296 AVG!

Please. What I said had nothing to do with Dusty Baker. Bad play is bad play. I just love how folks who despise Baker's love of veterans are the same ones who will overlook poor plays by young kids. Bad play is bad play. By the way, I believe Murton will be a good player, but right now I do think he's best suited against lefties. From what I've seen, he hasn't hit too many balls hard against right handers. I'm fine if you make outs, as long as they're hard hit outs. But I'm being critical of Murton just as I would Holla, Macias or all the other whipping boys.

The only bright spot tonight is Williamson pitched another scoreless inning. Maybe he'll be a great setup man next year.

Yeah Willamson has looked good so far. Got to take something positive out of this mess.

You dont worry about advancing the runner WHEN YOU ARE DOWN BE FIVE RUNS IN THE EIGTH you try to get on base. Hollandsworth didnt do it when they were down by two runs in the 2nd

Williamson has been filthy his whole career, and looks pretty good for a guy just off the DL. He will be a nice piece for the 2006 Cubs.

I hate Macias, too, but you're going way overboard. There's a reason why he's our third string CF. That's like getting mad at a 3rd string QB having a bad game.

Yeah, I've been wanting Williamson way back when he was the Reds closer. He is an awesome pitcher and I'm glad we have him.

Just a thought. Any coincidence that the same time period has been hotter than you know what.....and the Cubs are playing more day games than anyone else (through a very hot Summer)?

I know I'm reaching.....but.......We've tried everything else for 100 years. Build a new stadium! Too much bad Karma in Wrigley. It travels with the team.

CUBS are 15-8 when the temperature is 85 degree or above, don't you know.

OMG - that's exactly what I thought too!!! I bet this just tears up someone like Santo - I personally don't care for Santo's announcing, but I do respect the fact that the guy lives, eats and breaths Cubbie blue - it's gotta be heartbreaking for him to have to watch this and maintain some sense of professionalism in the booth.
