Hey Mets play mindless baseball without effort too. Guess what? We both are well on our way to missing the playoffs even though we have salary budgets way above many of the other teams that are battling in front of us.

I am not definite on this, but did anybody else think Beltran was safe? No excuse for his lack of hustle though.

pretty sure he was.

I'm sure if you asked him he would tell you he prefers sitting on the bench in the ML over spending time toiling in the Minors (playing everyday) but having a doubt in his mind about whether or not he will get another chance to play for the Cubs (arguably the fear of every minor league player).

Unfortunately sitting on the bench hinders his development, as he still has some things to work on. If he's not going to get regular playing time, then he should be in AAA. He's only 22.

His "develpment" will pickup where it left off when he becomes the Cubs everyday SS in 2006 (?) or beyond. Either he can play or he can't. There are guys who spend their entire career in the minors and never develop into ML quality.

this is just ignorant - cedeno has things that need to be worked on, and without regular playing time, he will not be able to do that. he needs to be playing in the majors or be sent down to the minors.

I love how you call me ignorant because my opinion differs with yours. That's the best way to get anyone to see your point

Met 1-0 on cheap Beltran hit.

I think he said it was ignorant because he feels that it is an ignorant opinion, not just because it's different than yours.

First two curves hit hard. Neither looked very good

you thought that last one was hit hard? It was a total bloop.

Maybe not hit hard, but he was sitting on the pitch, they did good advanced scouting for this one.

JoshiQ - the ball beat him, it might have been a tie, but he didn't slide and the ball beat him.

Yeah, no doubt the ball beat him. Macias had a perfect throw if Beltran had gone for a slide like he was supposed to...just seemed like Beltran was on the base quite a bit before the tag.

ARAMABOMB!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Not much of one, but it counts just the same.

And Nomar promptly hits a weak grounder for an out. :(

Gawd, Nomar, why do you stink so much this season???

As expected, Nomar didn't allow for much camera time, there.

And Burnitz, you're not supposed to hit a weak grounder on the first pitch after a weak grounder on the first pitch.

I hope that's sarcasm, and you're gonna give him more than one AB on his comeback.
