Hmm...Oregon is Cubs central today - noon Iowa Cubs road game in downtown Portland (5 miles away), followed by an evening Boise Hawks game 40 minutes south in Keizer... Let's play two!

I want to remind everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to ask questions to the Diamond Jaxx players that have agreed to do a Q & A session.

In addition, I received Jeff Parker's responses to his Q & A session. It will be posted later today!

Bobby Brownlie is starting for Iowa today. No reason given yet for why he's starting instead of Valdez.

Cubs scored a run in top of first on 3 straight singles. Brownlie gave up a run in the bottom of the first. It's 1-1 going into the top of the 2nd.

Cpatt is 0-2 so far today with a pop up to the 3rd baseman in foul territory and a flyout to left field. Looks like he's at least trying to go the other way.

Hmmmm. Raul was used in relief. I wonder what the motivation to flip Brownlie & Valdez from pen to starting???

Not that Brownlie should be starting, but it's about time they get a look at Valdes out of the 'pen.

Speaking of which, when did they change the spelling from "Valdez" to "Valdes?"

Iowa wins and JVB and Talley Haines each with another scoreless inning. Both have ERA's under 2. Does anyone know what Haines throws? I know a little about JVB, but I know nothing about Haines.

I'm pretty sure I read that Haines' best pitch is a "plus-plus" change.

Any word on how long Nomar is expected to play tonight? I missed most of the pre-game.

Bacon steals third.
