I am leaving the thread title as is until either mods see fit, or it is truly confirmed by MLB.

ESPN has it on the front page now. I think it's pretty much a sure thing.

Maybe he was the victim of a false positive.

Could Viagra s show up as a steroid in a urine test? ;)

I think, regardless of what the first reading is, they run a second test on his sample to make sure they have the right result.

How would we know how many tests they ran?

The Orioles broadcast is on MLB.TV, and I'm finding it interesting that they have not said a word yet - even when announcing the lineups...

...o.k. just announced it...

We don't, but I think I heard that they run at least 2 tests on every sample, just to eliminate any sort of error. Granted, with these tests a false positive is rare, but just in case a player would have a false positive the first try, I think they'd be grateful for that second or third test.

This is kinda sad. I always dug Raffy. A part of me used to wish we would have kept him.

Side note:

Imagine the type of hitter Mark Grace would have been had he juiced? Wow...

So what exactly is the punishment if he is now found to have lied to Congress? Jail time? Fines?

Raffy has to be a complete idiot to think he could continue to take a banned substance and get away with it -- I guess he didn't care if his legacy was ruined.

What are Raffy's stats in the last month. I'm just wondering if he was struggling and went the quick route to "success".

Again, does anyone know how long this stuff stays in your system?

That could be some serious jail time. Perjury in court is a 20-year sentence, IIRC, but I don't know what it is if you lie to Congress. Will Congress even go after him?

Now the question is... did he just juice away his hall of fame shot. He's certainly not first ballot after this.

I gotta think his HoF chances just died. there were already many sportswriters who didn't think he was HoF worthy. This is just gasoline on the fire.

Yeah, he was borderline in the writer's minds to begin with.

I guess this gives more crediblitiy to all of Canseco's claims from a while back.

Steriod detection times vary, but I heard the longest time is 18 months.
