According to the Inside Dish.

The Braves made a run at Rangers 2B Alfonso Soriano, offering 2B Marcus Giles, RHP Jorge Sosa and a pitching prospect for Soriano and OF Kevin Mench. The Braves would have had a difficult time parting with Sosa, acquired from the Devil Rays at the end of spring training for IF Nick Green. Sosa was 4-1 with a 2.63 ERA in his first nine starts after leaving the bullpen.

The Dodgers and Indians tried to acquire Royals 1B/OF Matt Stairs. Rather than accept a marginal prospect, Royals G.M. Allard Baird preferred to keep Stairs as protection for DH Mike Sweeney. Stairs, 37, wants to stay with the Royals past this season.

The Yankees, Orioles and Padres were among the teams that made unsuccessful attempts to acquire Indians RHP Kevin Millwood. The Indians wanted a young pitcher who could help them in the following season and prevent the need for them to sign a free agent. The Yankees didn't have that pitcher--the Indians apparently weren't sold on Henn as a starter--and the Orioles wouldn't part with RHP Hayden Penn or RHP Chris Ray.

Why would the Braves want to do that trade?

More importantly, why does stairs want to stay with the royals?

I believe he has a job with them waiting for him when he retires.

Aaaahh. I see.

Well, looking at the numbers, Soriano has been a more productive second baseman, although Giles has quite a lead over him in OBP. Mench has been very productive at a VERY cheap price and Johnson/Langerhans haven't been that good in LF for Atlanta.

Don't know if this has been brought up anywhere else but it was mentioned on XM Radio's Baseball This Morning Show that Houston and Seattle worked out a deal to send Jamie Moyer to Houston but Moyer exercised his 10-5 rights and killed the deal.

And then he later turned down a trade to the Braves.

The trade I was hoping for didn't happen.

Perez, Macias and Remmy for ARod.

ARod over neifi? are you kidding me? What, am I just supposed to like, cast him aside after he saved our butts?

But A-Rod is a third baseman now. He might fail in his conversion back to SS.
