Did anyone hear the Baseball tonight on July 28th, when they were talking about Nomars return to the cubs, and how dusty will play him?

They were saying how he may not get too much playing time in the beginning especially because Dusty is such a fan of Neifi's job as a replacement.

If Dusty starts Neifi for Nomar ANY day that Nomar is able to start, i have no idea what i would do. And this also means Cedeno is the odd man out, and will hafto spend the rest of the season in Iowa *feel sorry for him because so do i*

Otherwise, they also said he may be back within a week or 2 depending on how he feels tonight.

Yes. I heard it. It was also in the Tribune yesterday or day before that Dusty thinks he has to play Neifi after all Neifi has done for this team. Again, winning is not Dusty's priority.

Actually, the scary thing is that winning IS Dusty's priority...it's just he has a really horrible method to achieve it.

I honestly believe that in Dusty's mind, what he's doing is best for the team, and puts them in the best position to win.

I don't know why people can't see through the comments Dusty made.

He's said the same thing basically every other time a player has come back from an injury.

Sammy hit over 500 home runs for this team... they sent him packing.

Neifi should be back to his old benchy self when Nomar returns. But knowing Dusty, he'll probably end up in our starting rotation between Prior and Zambrano.

Wake up Dusty! Neifi's numbers on the season are actually BELOW his career averages now, and that's taking into account his absolutely scorching april. That's how BAD Neifi has been in the last 3 months. Get over it cos the honeymoon's over.

I can still see Neifi getting decent playing time, but only late in games when the Cubs have opened up a good sized lead. I don't want to see Nomar out there in a 10-2 game in the 7th inning. That would be a great time to bring Neifi's glove into the game.

What would you like him to say, "Neifi is bad, I mean just bad, if I had anybody but a rookie or Macias to choose from, Perez would be gone..." What slays me even more is that if Dusty said something about Nomar starting from day 1, this board would be going crazy that Dusty is undermining Neifi's confidence and is willing to start an a player coming back from a serious injury over a capable stopgap before Nomar proves anything.

Look, until Dusty actually plays Neifi over a healthy and hitting Nomar, relax.

I think it's reasonably possible to have a statement looking forward to Nomar coming back without heaping praise on Neifi. And I can guarantee you that the board would not be complaining about "undermining Neifi's confidence".

I really really doubt it, in fact I would bet a fortune against it....but nice thought

No the board wouldn't. They would applaud Dusty for having a lucid thought.

Neffi hasn't been a capable stopgap for well over two months. That is roughly 1/2 half the time Nomar has been injured.
