With the current wild card standings looking like this...

http://mlb.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/mlb/standings/wildcard.jsp

And the Cubs being 3 games back standing 52-50 do we win the wild card?

Heres my input...

Who we face - What i think will happen

3 more agianst ARI - We will finish series off 2-1

3 at PHI - Take the series 2-1

3 at NYM - Cant win two tough series on the road in a row, we go 1-2

3 against CIN - Go 2-1

4 against STL - Split 2-2

3 at HOU - At Hou i see them taking 2

3 at COL - We take 3 at COL

3 against ATL - They got us the first time but we take it 2-1 this time

3 against FLA - After winning the series against ATL, we go 1-2 against FLA

3 against LAD - We go 2-1

3 at PIT - Once again take it 2-1

3 at STL - STL takes it at home 0-2

4 at SFG - We go 3-1, should have just went 3-0 in the last series

3 against CIN - Cant win two series in a row at tehre place, we go 1-2

4 against STL - Split 2-2 at home

3 at MIL - 2-1 against MIL

3 against HOU - Take it 2-1

2 against PIT - We go 2-0, as we realize we NEED to win

4 at HOU - Depending on the situation i see us going anywhere from 1-3, to 3-1

88-74

Is that good enough to make playoffs? I say we miss by 2 games, needing to sweep HOU in the last series and not coming through.

They got a true leadoff hitter in Matt Lawton, Wood, Williamson, and Nomah are returning, we got some good kids on the farm who can up as September call-ups when rosters expand that can help us get in, and we got plenty of head-to-head w/ the teams ahead of us. Plus, we have 11 left w/ the Cards, so the division ain't over yet, either. We're done w/ the Marlins and Braves down South, so we'll aviod potential hurricanes that will force us to play DH and screw us like they did last year. CUBS GOT A SHOT. It will come down to the last week of the season.

to many games back, too many teams, not enuff time. Sorry guys, I gotta say no.

You're forgetting plenty of head-to-head w/ the teams ahead of us, and no more trips to Atlanta and Miami this year, thus avioding potential hurricane disasters, like last year.

I like the optimism, but lets be realistic. This team has practically given up and quit. 2 new question marks in the bullpen and a shortstop recovering from an injury are not going to fix everything. Plus, what makes you think the Astros are going to start losing? We miss out by 5-10 games.
