Not much love for Pat and Ron. They are rated as one of the worst in the NL.

They're dead on with their assessment of Ron, but I think they underrate Hughes.

I'd agree with that. Personally, I really really like listening to Ron Santo and Pat Hughes, if for nothing else than the wierd conversations. Today they were talking about different kinds of sandwiches in the eighth inning. :roll:

 

I would have given them a higher entertainment rating, but a lower rating on technical though, because it is sometimes hard to understand what is going on if you're not watching TV.

 

EDIT: Oh and they're dead on about the Sox announcers. Those guys are really good.

I would think that they would get a better score for the entertainment and fan. Santo is one of the biggest cubs fans there is and when he groans in agony he is pretty much groaning with the entire fan base.

 

Also I dont really understand why some of the teams radio team is being judged and some of the teams tv crew is being judged. Its kinda like apples and oranges.

I get both Cards and Cubs radio broadcasts down here in southern Indiana and there is no way Cubs broadcasts are less entertaining than Cardinals. Listening to those guys is like listening to paint dry. I would concede that they are more technically sound, in that you always know what the count and score is but no way are they more entertaining. (although Pat does a good job of painting a visual when Ron lets him)

It's hard to be objective about things like this. But I do not see how the Twins get to be #4 on the list for the AL. Jon Gordon does a fairly good job, though there's an edginess to his voice that gets a little wearing over time. But the rest of the broadcast is just average at best. There's very little humor from what I can tell. The analysis may be better (Ron's weakness), but overall, it's more boring to me. Pat and Ron get my vote hands down.

 

Edit: The voices from the past feature with this article is pretty cool.

I agree. This is nonsense. They can't possibly get a large enough sample size to rate all of these teams. Pat and Ron will laugh at this rating all the way to the bank.
