I'm getting very tired of seeing him hitting into double plays with the game on the line. He is quickly making a bid for being being my most hated player on the roster.

Our offense sucks for reasons that have nothing to do with the occasional todd walker DP.

While he may have hit into DP's and all that, he has, however, been on base when it was needed to win the games for the past few days. And as others mentioned, he is a streaky hitter.

Yea, the guy hitting around .300 all year is the worst of our problems. I hate solid players that aren't clutch in situational hitting 100% of the time.

There are better things to spend your time worrying about. Walker is probably our third most polished hitter.

One of the worst threads in a while.

I totally agree!! Walker took TWO paycuts in successive years to be a Cub, and you want to rag on him and his .300 average? Give me a break!!!

Walker is fine...but he's really been awful the last week...especially in St. Louis....

I hear Jeff Kent might be available... :jocolor:

Yeah, Walk is not a problem.

And besides, my wife thinks he's a "hottie". Must be those sun glasses.

(thread-killing-comment; though I suppose Gracie's Girl and Serena might have opinions...)

I am not saying Walker is the problem, but...

he is a bit of a moth to the camera/microphone (see Mark Grace). KInd of sick of hearing him speak for the team. he seems to be the go-to guy for a quote

And in case no one has noticed he can be a bit of a dog hustle-wise when he hits ground balls.

Just thought to mention these points

I see many posters having some of the same problems that Baker has: playing favorites. Walker deserves some blame for last night's loss and Friday night's loss. Anytime a position player goes 0-4 or 0-5 or leaves guys on base and the team loses they deserve some blame for the loss. I don't care if your name is Walker, Lee or Perez or Macias or Ramirez.

I think he just needs a day off.

I don't understand why people get so upset that he speaks to the media. He speaks his mind, so what?

It's not a problem to speak your mind. But why always to the media? he's quoted more than Lee or Ramirez. I tend to think guys who always seem to be quoyed are self-promoters (see Grace and Schilling).

Walker has played well for the majority of the season, every player has off games, Walker has had more games where he has been on than off.

He's been an asset more than a liability for this team. They certainly wouldn't be better off not having him in the starting line-up (which I can't say for 2 out of the 7 remaining positions).

I'm pretty sure the media goes to him and asks him questions, and he doesn't go up to them just to say what he feels. It's not Todd's fault that reporters chose to use his quotes. Maybe Lee and Ramirez get asked the same amount of questions, Todd just happens to have answers that are more quote-worthy. How boring would it be if all the players just said "Good game, we'll be back out there tomorrow."

The boredom level in my life is not dependent upon quotes from ballplayers. I could care less if any of them were ever quoted. The game is on the field. The less talking the better.

I guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I like hearing players say what they think rather than just giving some vanilla answer, but I guess that's just me.

Someone forgetting about all of Mo Alou's GIDP to 3rd base? Felt like he made six for every HR he hit, at least.

Ahh, my favorite, checked swing grounders!
