So what do I do if the game is postponed till tomorrow? Do I start 2 new threads for Game 1 and Game 2? Or do I just do Game 1? Or does this thread become Game 1?

I figure this would do fine as Game 1, you can change the title to reflect the time change and change in starters(if any).

Ok, cool, then what about Game 2 assuming a doubleheader?

I'm assuming if they win, you start it, if they lose, someone else starts it.

They can't make it a day-night doubleheader because that means they'd have to make it up as a night game. The Cubs have a preset number of night games per year.

So it's more likely to be scheduled for a mutal off day later in the year?

I think it's more likely they schedule a regular doubleheader. But then again, if this storm continues to pass and the outfield holds up ok, this game may start at 9 or so.

Which would be great, because I live next to the park. And I could pick up a ticket from a scalper for a buck after a two hour rain delay. And sit wherever I want. not that I'm bragging.

Huh? If it was rescheduled as the "night" part of a day night doubleheader, the Cubs would be replacing a night game (tonight) with a night game (the make-up). How would that affect the number of night games?

Show me where the Cubs have another night game against the Giants.

But tonight is a night game that wouldn't be played. The Giants would need to agree, not the neighborhood.

it doesn't matter. the Cubs have to clear the night game schedule with the city months before the season starts.

If it starts at 9 you're golden, they might pay you to take the ticket.

They don't. This is the Giants only trip to Chicago.

That is just plain wrong.

Night games are allowed any day except Thursday and Friday nights. The Cubs tend to schedule them Sun thru Tues more often, but that's just organizational preference. I think they feel they can sell out a Wednesday or Thurday afternoon game better.

how long is this rain delay lookin to be?

Len just said it'd be 8:30 or 9. I wonder what quality rerun we'll see during the rain delay. I wish they'd show something Cubs related, but I know it wont happen.

I agree, but thats the way it works.

This is the Giants' only trip to Chicago. They have no more scheduled night games on this trip. Therefore, the game must be made up as part of a doubleheader tomorrow or on a mutual off-day later where it cannot be scheduled as a night game due to the fact that the city won't allow it. Especially since the city isn't tremendously happy about this Jimmy Buffett thing.

I don't think you're following what I'm saying. Hypothetically, let's say the Cubs have a limit of 24 night games. (I say "hypothetically" only because I don't know the precise limit) Further, let's assume that the Cubs have exactly 24 night games on their schedule.

If tonight's game was rained out, it would be removed from the schedule. So, there would be 23 night games on the schedule. Accordingly, the Cubs could make the game up tomorrow night (as past of a day-night doubleheader) without exceeding the limit on night games.

If a DAY game is rained out, the Cubs are unable to make it up at night.

You are correct.

Does any non-Weather Channel tv station have a more thorough weather report than WGN? Is it possible to dislike Tom Skilling?

I do get what you're saying. What I'm saying is that i know the city of Chicago approves the night game list months before the season starts, and I don't think they allow making up of night games on nights where there's no scheduled night game.

The limit, by the way, is 30. The Cubs also scheduled a pair of Jimmy Buffett concerts, one of which is at night, which the city is tremendously unhappy about. The city of Chicago has already punished the Cubs for scheduling Buffett by taking away one of their night games for next year, so they will only be able to have 29. Also the Cubs have already agreed that they will not have any more concerts next year.

As I am sure that the Cubs would have to go through the city in order to reschedule this game at night, I think making a night game, especially tomorrow night, is out of the question. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

Well, only if you hold a grudge against his brother.

wow does anyone wanna punch Phil Rogers right now, how he just overrided himself by saying that Barry Bonds's best years equate to MVPs without carrying his team to the playoffs, but Lee is still in a position to take the triple crown, AND carry his team to the playoffs, and he doesnt get the benefit of the doubt?
