Where do you get your info? It probably will be a straight DH tomorrow, but the info you are saying is just plain wrong. The city is happy to have Buffet, they need the money. You must be hearing this stuff from Charlotte Newfeld, not your alderman. The city agreed to night games and they agreement of when they are scheduled or re-scheduled have to fall under the master agreement, not day to day.

I don't think the pre-approval of night games has anything to do with the rules about scheduling day-night double headers for rain outs, but the Buffett story is true:

They can't make it a day-night doubleheader because that means they'd have to make it up as a night game. The Cubs have a preset number of night games per year.

Huh? If it was rescheduled as the "night" part of a day night doubleheader, the Cubs would be replacing a night game (tonight) with a night game (the make-up). How would that affect the number of night games?

Show me where the Cubs have another night game against the Giants.

I don't think you're following what I'm saying. Hypothetically, let's say the Cubs have a limit of 24 night games. (I say "hypothetically" only because I don't know the precise limit) Further, let's assume that the Cubs have exactly 24 night games on their schedule.

If tonight's game was rained out, it would be removed from the schedule. So, there would be 23 night games on the schedule. Accordingly, the Cubs could make the game up tomorrow night (as past of a day-night doubleheader) without exceeding the limit on night games.

If a DAY game is rained out, the Cubs are unable to make it up at night.

I do get what you're saying. What I'm saying is that i know the city of Chicago approves the night game list months before the season starts, and I don't think they allow making up of night games on nights where there's no scheduled night game.

The limit, by the way, is 30. The Cubs also scheduled a pair of Jimmy Buffett concerts, one of which is at night, which the city is tremendously unhappy about. The city of Chicago has already punished the Cubs for scheduling Buffett by taking away one of their night games for next year, so they will only be able to have 29. Also the Cubs have already agreed that they will not have any more concerts next year.

As I am sure that the Cubs would have to go through the city in order to reschedule this game at night, I think making a night game, especially tomorrow night, is out of the question. I may be wrong, but I doubt it.

I'll admit that i've never seen that night games ruling in print, but I've heard it around the neighborhood from several people. there's some crackpots that live here, though, so maybe it's not true. here's to hoping.

And how is the city going to make money off of Buffett? From the city taxes on the concert tickets?

Is there any report on Clements' condition? Was he conscious?

Boston annoucers just reported he'll be spending the night in the hospital for observation.

On the TB broadcast, they said he was conscious & alert when he was carted off the field.

Boston Red Sox pitcher Matt Clement left the game due to an injured head.

Couldn't the guy who lucked out with that Gameday job come up with anything better than that?

Sounds like maybe a concussion, then? That's certainly better than any more serious neck or spine injury.

With all this LIVE rain delay action/interviews from Wrigley Field it makes me think they will definitely play tonight. Apparently the Cubs dont want to lose the audience they had planned for this time slot. I was expecting the typical rain delay theatre. AKA the Andy Griffith Show or TWIB.

LOL, or any other cheesy programing.

It's very interesting because WGN radio is also talking Cubs. Usually they go to alternate programing (The Milton Rosenburg show) during rain delays. It's very odd (not that I'm complaining). Hmmm, this is making me think. I wonder what Hendry has up his sleeve for the trading deadline???

Ooo.. Best of the 7th inning stretch coming up in the rain delay.

I hope they have Sharon and Ozzy Osbourne.

Skilling says 9:30 or 10 before the rain stops. I wonder if they wait that long with a day game tomorrow?

One would think they'd have cancelled by now if that's the case. They're not going to cancel at 9 only to have the rain stop as people walk out the door.

11 pm start time on the East Coast ? I might be getting up to get ready for work if the game goes extra innings.

We will agree then to end this. Yes the city gets 10% of tickets just like baseball tickets sold. the taxes are nice for them. As far as the law goes, I too am unsure, but with everything dumping down on the chief thief Daley, he wouldn't make anything of this. He has far more problems and is going down. Can't wait for the "perp walk" for this little scum.

Man, some of them was so sad yet embarrasing.

Where is the Mongo arguement to the ump at? That one is a classic.
