I'll spot-start this one...

 

3 of 4 in Cinci would sure be nice. Look for many a HR tomorrow. It'll be hot and humid at the GABP. Not only that, but Maddux has given up 17 HRs already while batters have taken Milton deep 29 times. That's...a lot (and only 3 less than his walk total).

 

Look for Hairston to be back in the lineup with Cedeno getting the start at short. Righties have a .959 OPS against Milton, so hopefully Burnitz can take the day off.

 

Here's a fun fact on Milton. This year, if you add his walk and homerun totals against righties, you'd get his strikeout total against righties. That's pretty sad.

 

Oh, and some guy named Maddux is just 6 strikeouts away from 3,000.

CUBS are 2-7 on Thursdays

CUBS are 5-3 vs. Cincinnati

CUBS are 25-24 in the day time.

CUBS are 24-24 on the road.

CUBS are 17-13 in games that end a series

CUBS are 29-19 when they've won the previous game.... 18-27 after a loss

CUBS are 38-13 when they get a quality start,... 10-33 when they don't

CUBS are 40-18 when they throw less than 17 pitches per inning.... 8-28 when they don't

CUBS are 24-16 when they see at least 3.7 Pit/PA.... 24-30 when they don't

With the lefty on the mound I guess Murton and maybe Cedeno will be in the lineup. I fully expect both of them, if they play, to play about 6 innings before being pulled for the more experienced dudes on the team.

Somehow I'm not optimistic about this one. I was at the night game in late september where Maddux faced the Red team we beat down the night before....and got owned. Absolutely rocked. Dunn hit 2 homeruns through the wind, over my head in RF.

I wish they could just show all the games on WGN like they used to. I have MLB Extra Innings, but it's in my living room and I can't talk in gamethreads..... :x
