Thanks to the support and donations of posters as well as direct bids from NSBB posters, NSBB.com was able to donate $545 to the JDRF auction at Pringles Park on Saturday, July 16th!

The key auction won was a night in the broadcast booth with Ron Potesta, "The Voice of the Diamond Jaxx," on Dixie 1330 AM WDXI and the online broadcast!. NSBB will be represented in the broadcast booth with Ron on August 26th, when the Diamond Jaxx host the Chattanooga Lookouts! The game will start at 6:35 p.m. CT. The night will be "Felix Pie Bobblehead Night", with the first 1,000 fans through the gate receiving a Felix Pie bobblehead!

Thank you to everyone who donated money or helped in any way for this great cause. In addition, be sure to make plans to listen to the broadcast! To listen to Diamond Jaxx broadcasts, go to http://www.diamondjaxx.com and click the link to listen live!

Thank you so much for your help and support!

From the Jaxx

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, along with the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF), held a Silent Auction on Saturday, July 16, to benefit JDRF. Among the memorabilia in the auction were several autographed and game-used items from the Chicago Cubs, including:

A bat donated by former Diamond Jaxx outfielder, Matt Murton,

Cubs team-autographed baseballs,

A Vince Coleman autographed bat,

Game-worn autographed spike shoes from Rich Hill and Todd Wellemeyer,

Baseballs autographed by 1998 NL Rookie of the Year Kerry Wood, Triple Crown candidate Derrek Lee, Manager Dusty Baker, and All-Star Third Baseman Aramis Ramirez.

Other items in the auction included autographed baseballs from Hall of Famers Billy Williams, Bob Feller, and Ferguson Jenkins, as well as a team set of individually signed baseballs from the 2005 Iowa Cubs. The highest bid was for a night in the radio booth on Dixie 1310 WDXI with Jaxx broadcaster Ron Potesta, which sold for $300.

In all, the auction raised over $3,000 for JDRF, whose scientific and clinical research is aimed toward finding a cure for Type 1 (insulin-dependent) diabetes. Typically, more than 80 cents out of every dollar donated goes directly to research.

The JDRF Silent Auction was one of many fundraising events the Diamond Jaxx have organized during the 2005 season. On April 22, the Jaxx wore Boy Scout-themed jerseys, and a live auction was held after the game. This event raised more than $1000 for the Boy Scouts of America.

The West Tenn Diamond Jaxx, the “AA” Southern League Affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, take pride in their community involvement. For more information, call the Diamond Jaxx at (731) 988-5299 or log on to our website at http://www.diamondjaxx.com. For more information on how you can help JDRF, visit http://www.jdrf.org.

Is there any way that you could smuggle one of those bobble head dolls out of there for me? O:)

I'm not sure if I mentioned this here but one of the auctions I bought was for a ceremonial first pitch. I decided to let my wife have the honor that night since I'll have the honor of being in the booth (unless Tim can make it!). In any case, we will have several people there at the park that night and maybe I can get one for you. If not, keep checking ebay and enter diamond jaxx in the search and click the search titles and descriptions. I think there are dolls of Prior and Maddux on there as we speak. In addition I saw that a guy has a full ticket from Prior's first game.

I can't get it to work either. It won't start for me with Media Player, and I don't have the software installed for the other link.

I am happy to be able to announce that I'll be in the broadcast booth with Ron representing NSBB on Monday, August 29th. I really want to thank Ron for all of his effort tonight. When we realized there was a technical problem Ron did everything in his power to get things working. Once we realized that the broadcast wasn't online even after the adjustments Ron let me know that we'd have another night in the booth!

Thanks Ron, see you Monday!

The game is now a 12:05 central start because of the hurricane. Are you still planning on doing it tomorrow, DJAXX?

I had to leave and just got back, so that's the first I've heard of that.
