I as a baseball fan had alot of respect for the orginization & the way Larry Bienfest & the front office execute baseball operations with a low to mid-level payroll. It's quite impressive.

However, I went to the last 2 Cub/Marlin games & was quite dissapopinted & thought the way they treated the Cubs & their fans was very classless. Tell me if any of you have seen this @ other ballparks, not by the fans but excuted by the marketing dept. & front office:

On Friday night, before the game, Billy the Marlin(mascot) had a live goat on a leash & walked it up & down in front of the Cubs dugout for a good 30 minutes. If it was on the Marlins side of the field or up further on the 3rd baseside(Cubsside) it probably wouldn't have been such a big deal. During that 1/2 hour before the game, the loud speaker had goat sounds blarring throughout the stadium.

Also, on the big screen when a Cubs' player was announced & his picture was displayed, on the each side of his photo in the bottom left part of the screen they placed goats with Cub hats. Everytime the Marlins scored a run instead of celeebrating in Marlin fashion they again blarred the goat sound throughout the stadium.

BTW, the play by Cabrera LY @ Wrigley imitating the Bartman play I thought was also classless.

Has anyone seen anything like this? I find it quite classless, however I know some of you might just consider it harmless fun.

Is the line of professionalism being crossed by the Marlin orginization?

I'm pretty sure they're trying to do all they can to entertain all 6,000 of the fans they have show up at games.

50-60% of the people @ the last 2 games were Cubs fans. Cubbie blue ruled that stadium (Wrigley South?)

I've never liked the Marlins or the way they act. I was real surprised this morning when I read that the pitcher that accidently beaned Greenburg called to check on him after the game. That type of class seams to be the exception, IMO.

6,000 showed up for the game? What promotion was going on - hat night, bobble head dolls? That seems awfully high for a Marlins home game.

I read that too, and thought it was a classy move. And so was Paul Lo Duca getting to Greenberg right away and telling him to stay still.

Yes. I remember in the playoffs in 2003, Cubs fans took over Turner Field and Dolphins Stadium and called them Wrigley Field South.

i remember that.

i despise that guy for it now.

another reason i can't stand that club is jack mckeon. when he argued that the ball that cabrera (i think) hit off of the basket in right field at wrigley was a homer while they were up by 10 runs, i lost any respect i had for him.

de los santos and loduca displayed the only acts of class i've ever seen from the marlins last night.

That's funny, I started calling him "Future Best Hitter in the Majors".

What was this about Cabrera imitating the Bartman play at Wrigley last year? Someone please fill me in.

During one of the games at Wrigley last year, Cabrera acted just like Alou did on a foul ball, that, if I recall, wasn't even close to the field.

Here is a much better explanation of it...

I went to today's debacle and was extremely disapointed except for one hilarious thing that Miguel Cabrerra did during the second inning.

Bottom 2, 1-0 Marlins, Moises hits a pop foul to LF near a recently famous spot around Wrigley. That spot is of course the Bartman spot. Miguel goes over to the LF wall just to track it, but the ball is well foul.

As the ball was hitting the stands about 7-8 rows deep, Cabrera leaps up to "catch" the foul and when he obviously doesn't catch it, he throws his glove down in complete mocking of the Alou-Bartman incident in game 6 of the NLCS.

When it first happened you could actually hear Wrigley bust out in laughter followed by some good booing about 5 seconds later when it truely hit them what Miguel did.

That was seriously thing funniest thing I've seen at the ballpark in sometime. You all might think it was horrible to do something like that AT Wrigley, but I'm sure Alou and Cabrera had a nice laugh about it afterwards. But if for some reason the Cubs didnt take it well, it was redeemed during Cabrera 's next AB as he was plunked with the first pitch.

If anyone has MLB.tv, check out bottom of the 2nd Alou's AB. I just watched it quickly and saw Cabrera make the jump, but the cameras didn't follow the stuff afterewards. I didn't see Steve and Chip make mention of it either.

Anyone else goto the game and/or see this?

Only two words need to be said about this subject: Jeffrey Loria.

He's history's greatest monster.

I call him pre-pubescent due to his resemblance to an 11 year old boy.

And Jefferey Loria is a horrible horrible person. That was what made me most sick about losing in '03. Was watching that load walk out on to the field celebrating.

Yeah, you know, except for Manny Ramirez, Alex Rodrigez, Albert Pujols, and, oh yeah, Aramis Ramirez and Derrek Lee.

He's 22 and he's already at least as good as Ramirez and Lee, by the time he hits his prime, Manny and ARod will be on the downswing, so it will just be him and Pujols.

I wouldn't blame you. McKeon once did something that is unbelieveable. June 25, 1975 - Manager Jack McKeon allowed Royals phenom Steve Busby to pitch twelve innings in a game against the Angels. Busby threw a remarkable 203 pitches in facing 51 batters. A Frank White grand slam in the 12th gave Busby the victory, but it would be one of the last of his career. Before that outing, Busby was the brightest star of his generation, throwing no-hitters in each of his first two major league seasons and racking up 59 wins at the age of 25. Over the next five seasons, Busby won only 11 more times.

Edited: Granted, it has nothin to do with the Marlins, but it's just been on my chest, and just had to get it off.

For a second there i thought i was going to go through this entire thread and not see anything about him. He is a the definition of classless in my mind. He ruins organizations...hopefully he works his magic on the Marlins

(Note: I do not wish anyone on the Marlins ill...just years of bad drafting and no more Free Agents that play well)

I don't really hate Cabrera, I dont paticularily like the mocking he did, but I'll chalk that up to being immature. His performance is amazing, right now IMO hes the most underrated player in the game, just wait until he starts playing third base.
