This feels like, in terms of volume of injuries, the worst training camp the Bears have ever had.

There were more damaging preseasons in Bears history (I remember Rex Grossman breaking his ankle in 2005 right before the season) but just by how many dudes have gotten hurt, I can't remember a worse one.

In quantity, maybe.  But only Bryant has been a long lasting injury.  Unless you're counting Kyler, which...who the hell knows.

Ready to call it a wrap and protect everybody for the season lol

The usual, it's still early caveats and all, but the 2026 draft sure doesn't sound like the 2025 draft

1st Rounder Dillon Theineman early reports have him sounding like he's really up and down from play to play which sounds pretty ominous given an already porous defense

2nd Rounder Logan Jones has been not great in practices, which is extremely disappointing because I thought he would be someone ready to take over the role by week 6.

3rd Rounder Sam Rousch I've heard very little about, but Jared Verse did wreck him

3rd Rounder Zavion Thomas has been getting some hype and talking about him actually being more involved in the offense rather than just a gadget play/return guy.

4th Rounder Malik Muhammad is learning a completely new position due to injuries and it sounds like he's capable but that's about where things end

5th Rounder Keyshaun Elliot I've heard absolutely nothing about since his injury

6th Rounder Jordan Van den berg is still getting a bit of hype and had a solidish preseason debut.

Long story short, I don't think we're getting anyone with the immediate impact of last year's guys like Burden, Loveland and Monangai

Loveland and Monangai weren't "impact" until mid-season.  And I don't think those "summaries" are very accurate.

Cleveland was actively avoiding Thieneman during the first preseason game: Did The Browns Avoid Dillon Thieneman? Why It Sure Looks That Way

Logan Jones is probably only going to see the field if Bradbury gets hurt.  It's more about them loving Bradbury's communication and experience right now.  No hurry here.

Roush has been fine...he got a couple of catches on Saturday.

Muhammed is probably going to be the nickel.  He's got a ton of speed, though he does still have some things to learn, which will come with time.

And then Van Den Berg is getting about as much hype and play as any 6th rounder could, honestly.

Agreed, I haven't been paying super close attention but I liked what I saw from Thieneman, Muhammed and VDB in the first preseason game.  Wish Coby didn't get hurt to help Thieneman back there.  I think those 3 will of course have rookie bumps but should be Day 1 contributors.  I'm willing to be patient with the others, Iowa offensive linemen almost always pan out (but still glad they got Bradberry to bridge the gap).

More on Thieneman:

Quote

Caleb Williams turned in a solid day in the shorter practice, going 4-5 with three touchdowns in a 7-on-7 red zone period, according to Mason Williams on X. Two of Williams’ three touchdowns in that period went to wide receiver Rome Odunze. Rookie Dillon Thieneman got the last laugh, though, intercepting Williams in a game-winning two-point conversion scenario to end Wednesday’s practice.

The Thieneman interception feels like a good time to share this on him from Rome Odunze on Tuesday: “I see his speed and every time he gets to the ball … You see that his name gets to 22 mph on the speed board day in and day out… The game is slowing down for him a good bit, and he’s seeing things a lot quicker … he’s been impressive.”
