I haven’t really followed recent draft picks in the past. Can someone explain to me why he hasn’t been assigned yet? And what the process is for that in general? I see Sorrell is in MB, for example

a lot more goes into preparing pitchers for their first pro games, and they're overly cautious with workload. Especially for a guy you picked in the 1st round

Especially since the draft moved to July. Pitchers stop throwing after their HS/college season and it takes too long to ramp back up (and in the case of college pitchers whose teams go far in the postseason, they probably have racked up a lot of innings).

The guys who do pitch in affiliate ball the year they they were drafted tend to be guys who are already ramped up from throwing in summer draft leagues or the Combine.

What about someone like Myles Bailey ?

Will Sanders is alive!

But he pitched like crap

But it was likely because his IL stint was short enough he didn't do a rehab outing?

More good than bad I'd say

Ari Armas with a huge game right after I dropped him from my 20.

A heater to end the year and ending up in the vicinity of average offense would be great!

I don't think Caple is pitching so well he must be promoted, but I do wonder if he gets one like attaboy start at Iowa to end his season.

Is Conrad a LF/DH only guy?

Very real chance he can stick in CF. Obviously he's missed time here, but prior the athleticism was a selling point. I don't think the Cubs are going to put too much on him defensively as he returns from the back, so expect less premium positions for a while still.
