That’s probably all their slot savings, huh?

Probably enough left in the kitty to make a run at a longshot HS guy after the tenth round (or maybe they pop two like last year with Franklin/Barnett and sign one), but yeah, they're probably targeting college seniors and easy signings from here on out.

Contrades the Padres just drafted gave me nightmares in the regionals. I thought that kid was going to hit one 500 feet every time he came up to the plate. Dude hit missiles all over the field the whole weekend

Smart going after a pitcher the Brewers tried to sign

He's also a good pitch lab candidate whose mechanics have been jerked around. There's a lot to work with, but it might take a year or two to undo some bad habits he picked up.

I like all of the arms the Cubs are grabbing. All of them you can squint and see where there's upside. There's velocity that you don't have to dream on outside of the kid who weighs 100lbs and is 6'5", and each one feels like you can envision roles on MLB teams with a bit of cleanup but without full rebuilds.

And the Brewers do a good job of identifying round 11-20 prepsters so that’s a really nice feather in the cap.

Are they actually stocking up on pitchers this year, with 5 of 7 picks being pitchers.

Jed seeing cupboard of pitchers is low in the system, so hes grabbing all these college pitchers (1 HS) to restock

Yes. They did this a few years ago too where they just picked almost exclusively pitchers. This is a draft that was expected to be pitcher heavy. As well, you may  notice a slight different type of pitcher...Zombro has more influence in the draft room than he did before, so I'd expect to see that reflected too.

Im guessing teams don’t feel confident in getting Joseph Contreras away from Vanderbilt? Honestly only reason I know who he is is because of the WBC, but I figured he would be very intriguing target for teams.

Apologies if he’s been drafted and I missed it also

Vandy commits are about the hardest to buy out of. So yeah, that's my guess.

Looks like Williams sits mid 90's with a low-slot release. Was supposed to be a starter, got moved to the pen where he pitched much better. Definitely a reliever, but you can see a pathway to a middle innings guy.

See a report or two where he can run it to 98mph.
