So is it pretty safe to say that their luck will turn around, and they won't win the division? Because at work today I said this, and 3 other guys made me feel like idiots for saying that. They were convinced that the Nationals were this year's 2003 Marlins.

But I was right the whole time!

Luck.

They are 20-7 in 1-run games. They've been relying on their bullpen way too much, and there's no way they can maintain their record.

I like that we're still calling them the Expos.

I hate everything about the Nationals. From the city, the colors, the name, the logo. You name it, I hate it.

I was indifferent about the Expos.

I think the Expos were in a bad situation the last couple of years playing in San Juan and small crowds in Montreal. They traded away Cabrerra and he won the WS. They traded away Barrett and he has become a solid player.

Three words - VERY GOOD MANAGING.

I've watched several games and they are out there having fun, working hard and getting the credit they deserve.

As far as the Cubs go?

They're working hard but don't seem to be having fun. Either they are putting undo pressure on themselves or just can't handle the pressure that is expected of them.

I don't lay that much blame on Dusty. Yes, he makes the decisions as to who plays and where they bat. (some of which I question like the rest of you.) But he can't go out and play for them. Although, it wouldn't amaze me that he's threatened to.

Most of this is frustration talking. But damn, these guys should be doing better. are the Cards better and deserve to be in 1st? NO DOUBT!!! Should the Cubs be 9 1/2 out? NO WAY!!! I don't care about the injuries. These guys are paid millions. They need to start playing as such.

As DC Diehard, I have been die hard for the Cubs -- all these years. Now I have a new sweetheart -- Diehard for the Nats.

I don't watch the Cubs as much now -- but when I do (and in person in DC) they seem flat. Even when they won the Friday night game -- it just seemed ho hum. Now the fans booing Corey -- gotta be taking a toll. Nats TV showed Prior banging his helmet against the bench (good thing those helmets are strong!) Doesn't look like any chemistry at all.

Nats -- what you you say? They just win. Lots of injuries another guy comes in and plays great. Jamey Carroll hits 8-hoppers and bloops to beat the Cubs. Pitching has been great. Relief pitching has been even better. The stats are deceptive because the Nats get blown out in a game, then quietly go along and win 5 one-run (or close) games in a row. The numbers say they should be .500.

And -- their fielding has been great. Today Byrd took away a double that would have put runners on 2nd, 3rd. No one out. And that Schneider pick off yesterday -- wow.

Ok, they've been lucky too. The Cubs should be so lucky (and I wish they would be after Sunday. )
