Anytime remember the fans that argued that Mark Prior just wasn't tough enough and should have pitched through it?

The Cubs won the division by 1 game. Sit Prior more and 2003 (the greatest year of a lot of our baseball watching lives to that point) doesn't even happen.

Im sure so many of you wanted to see him restricted at the time. Dusty did what managers were tasked to do back then. Win at all costs.

A lot of that was Dusty's doing also. He loved batting crap hitters at the top of the order instead of OBP monsters. What was that old saying about Dusty not liking guys taking walks? Alex Gonzalez led the team in plate appearances in the 2 hole in 2003.

"Clogging the bases" were the man's words.

2003 was a simpler time.

Yeah this has never happened to any other pitcher ever

It does happen, often. But there is a preponderance of evidence that it happens more often when pitchers are abused. And Dusty Baker abused pitchers more severely and for a longer period of time than any other manager since statistical analysis overtook fishing metaphors as a core competency for managers. He was late to the party and it cost the Cubs a dynasty.

I don't see why you are having a hard time with this.

there's an argument to be made that don baylor could've done what dusty did in 2003 and not destroy our star pitcher(s) in the process.

Prior clearly lacked the most important measurable of a ballplayer. TWTW!

I see we made it to the "I'd like to see you do better" entry from the Big Book of Logical Fallacies
