Houston just doesn't have the horses for a sustained run. They'll have some decent streaks. It's hard not to with Pettitte, Clemens, and Oswalt in the rotation.

But that offense doesn't scare anyone. They've lost too much thunder that they had last year. It's not going to happen. And even with 16-9 in June, they are still under .500. This isn't their year.

Well prior to today's game, they had snuck into 3rd place while no one was looking. Too early to tell if they'll be a factor, but I wouldn't start counting anyone out yet.

that's the point. Don't count anyone out. It wouldn't shock me.

And puts back on his spelling hat, I hope.

I think the Astros are alive and well. While they probably won't win the WC, I think they will make a serious push. Now, with a big trade (which I think is very likely), they will be in a position to win it. With the great pitching that the Astros have (well, except for middle relief) and the offense (Berkman, Ensberg, Lane) waking up, this could be a .500 team by the break.

Nicely done.

Even with their nice run, the Astros are still five games under .500. I just don't see them maintaining the success long enough to be a legitimate threat.

I could be wrong, but there is less talent there this year than there was last year. To be .500 at the break, They'll have to go 7-1 over their next eight games. I don't forsee that happening. I assume that they'll play well enough to finish the season at or around .500, but not enough to really threaten anyone for a playoff spot.

Jimy is here!

Just scattershooting wondering why the best 3B in the NL didn't make the All-Star team. 8)

Don't look now, but the 'stros are only 2 back of your mighty cubbies. Will we make another big push, probably not, but I think we're in a position to add another bat before the deadline. If that happens, and Ensberg sustains his breakout year, who knows? The rotation is certainly there, and Berkman is just beginning to hit again.

We're just glad to be able to watch some decent baseball again, it was pretty painful for a while.

I also have to add the recent streak hasn't come against the toughest of competition.

BTW, if there is any justice in this world, you guys will help us out and get Roy O voted in, the kid deserves his first allstar gig.

I voted for him once, not because I like him or the Astros, but because it's a joke he wasn't named to the team. IMO he has been the third best starter in the NL this season.

Oh you mean the Oswalt who was the big tough guy when three guys were standing in between him and Barrett? Nah I don't think I will be voting for him. If I ever see him outside or the park though I promise I will punch him in the mouth.

Nice, toughguy.

Since these things should be based on performance, I voted for Oswalt because he has been very, very good. Since that is the case, he deserves it.

That not withstanding, I would punch the punk in his mouth if I saw him on the street as well. Your team has some good guys on it (a la Ensberg), but Oswalt is a dirtbag.

That's justice.
