They were favoured to win the division on the assumption that it would take high 80s, absolute max 90 wins to do so. Stop being mad at the Cubs for the Brewers going nuclear for that stretch they did, especially because they actually took a few off of them during the 5 game series.

That’s true. The Cubs have to be one of the few teams that actually own the tiebreaker against the Brewers. We did everything we could to take the edge off of them.

I can safely assume you have an incredibly small dick that you can’t see over your enormous boiler.  Typical MAGA fruitcake

Not MAGA but I guess that’s what people that overreact and extremely sensitive assume everyone is if they don’t get hysterical when someone decides to attend an event that you don’t like. Hysterical baby. It’s all about how you feel isn’t it! I made you feel uncomfortable so you resort to name calling.

I love that you think you're owning everyone on this board

I think this basically tells you the Cubs in general are not taking these last few games seriously . I’m sure Counsell and upper management  said it was ok.. you can also see it with the rest of the team after clinching. Not sure why they even celebrated the way they did when they haven’t accomplished crap. They were favored in the beginning of the year to win the division and are hobbling in and it’s being accepted with rest of team.

Who cares if they were the favorites to win the division. It is all about making the playoffs and they did that. Because of that they should celebrate. I get your point to Caesar about the brewers overachieving, but to me that has no importance. Cubs do not need to apologize for not winning the division and should be proud of being in the playoffs, period. The last time they celebrated was 2017 when they won the NLDC. In ‘18 the waiting until they won the division, and they never did happen. In ‘20 there was no celebration. They deserve to celebrate now.

Cubs lead the NL in position player fWAR, and 3rd overall.  Streaky hitting but elite baserunning and defense.

20th in pitching fWAR.  Pitching gets a hit on xFIP because of the defense.  But we've fortunately had some elite relievers for the late-inning guys but some bad relievers relievers in the bottom half of the pen.

They should celebrate but it depends how hard they go at it.  They also have to remain professionals and still be capable of doing their jobs.  If they're a bit off the next game after the clinch whatever, but they got swept in a 4 game series including 2 shutouts.

If guys are indeed taking the gas off the pedal then at least ask for a day off and get fresh for playoffs.

Who knows what's really going on but it looks like a bit of sh*tshow.

I doubt they lost the last 3 games in the series because they partied too hard after they clinched a playoff spot. If they did that their foot of the peddle I would guess they would have done that with or without partying because they made the playoffs. Has they not celebrated at all, they still would be playing as they are now. I agree it is not good.

So my assumption is accurate.  Otherwise congrats on an enormously hypocritical post.  That’s very MAGA of you.  Or should I round up to Nazi

Maybe now is the time to point out that you were the first to resort to name calling. I believe I was called a crybaby because I said I wouldn’t buy a Shaw jersey.  Basically all I said about him.  I just disagree with his views so wouldn’t spend money on a product that represents him. I understand people have different views. But their views then do give me the right to like or not like them. Based on many of the views Shaw apparently shares with his “friend”, IMO, he is not a good person. His friends views are those of hatred, division, homophobia, sexist and white supremist all masked in his “Christian belief”.  Because of that I am not a fan of Shaw. Why is this view so offensive to you? Why is this being a crybaby?

I'm guessing you already know, but this is what MAGA is. They can hold whatever views they want (even those that change on a dime, i.e. going from Trump's Operation Warp Speed to "vaccines are poison and murdering people") and anyone who opposes any of those views, even in the most benign way, is a cuck/Communist/crybaby/whatever epithet their pea brains are thinking at the given moment.

Ok back to the regular schedule program of talking about Cade Horton and the Cubs. 6 games left, all at home. If the Cubs don't go at least 4-2, then I will be disappointed.

Prepare to be disappointed. “At least” 4-2 is a tall order. While I want 4-2 I don’t think it is something to shoot at as the low bar.

Even if they go 0-6 what does it matter? As long as they get the #4 seed.

This. Except I don’t think if they go 0-6 they get the #4 spot. But your point is well taken. All that matters is finishing ahead of the Padres. Whether it takes 92 wins to do so, or 89, it doesn’t matter.

Yes, you want to feel better about your team going into the playoffs. Going into the playoffs ass-backwards is not ideal.

Even setting aside this tie game, there's 5 games left. 5 days ago we had just completed a road sweep and had won 7 of 8. Momentum changes in a hurry.
