I’m not getting any traction on Taylor Rabe, but I’ll shout him out one more time. 7 innings 2 runs (1 came from a botched run down from Ole Miss) and 8 K’s on the road against #4 national seed Auburn. I’m just saying don’t be surprised if he works into the first round and seemingly nobody is talking about him. Not sure why. He throws 4 pitches. Throws 97. SEC ace. Has only walked 10 batters all year with 98 strikeouts.

How have his secondaries looked? He has a nice fastball, but the scouting reports I’ve seen have his secondaries as rather lacking.

Somebody much smarter than me will have to break that down. He’s primarily a fastball, slider, cutter guy that will mix in sinkers and changeups (I said 4 pitches but it’s 5). I don’t have any data behind his secondaries (the part where somebody smarter than me comes in). The fact that he’s 98:11 K to BB says he controls all his secondaries pretty well. D1 baseball is saying he’s getting 2nd round buzz and could climb all the way to round 1. It was reported there were scouts up to 15 teams there to watch him last night. I’ll post a few videos below of some his starts this season.

BA just did a podcast about Rabe. He's #39 right now. Cooper thinks he might get into the 1st. Compared him a bit to Cade Horton (not in terms of stuff so much but in trajectory); coming off TJS and he hadn't throw into the 6th until April 12th - this is what they think held him back. Small track record.

Had TJS his true freshman season. Pitched midweek games last year and out of the pen on weekends. Started as a multi inning reliever this year before working his way into the rotation April 2nd and then turning into Ole Miss’ best starting pitcher. He made 9 starts after entering the weekend rotation and went 6+ in all but 2. Im just glad he’s getting the recognition finally. He’s been dominant… sometimes even more dominant than the box score indicates because college defenses are so bad normally.

The good thing is no matter what, there is going to be a pitcher worth taking at the Cubs spot. Let's not horsefeathers it up.

I'm fine with the team drafting a hitter in the first. To be fair, their last first round hitters have been guys like Nico Hoerner, Cam Smith, Matt Shaw and Ethan Conrad. Jury is out but they're getting value with that strat. So if Tyler Bell is there and they love Bell, go for it.

But they do need to hit the "pitching" button as often as they can all draft.

Yeah I'm all over Bell if he's there, but I'd be really surprised if that’s the case
