The Cubs have taken a college bat in each of the last three first rounds after going back-to-back college arms in 2021 and 2022. After riding a very hot streak in SEC play to land in first-round conversations, Kuhns has been a bit up-and-down over his last three starts, though he did strike out 15 in seven shutout innings against Texas in between two rougher outings, and he could cement his place with strong starts in postseason play.

As I stated earlier in this thread, I’m pretty dialed in on Ole Miss. Cade is awesome. Love everything about the kid, but something seems off with him currently. He’s gotten shelled his last 2 starts. He left a start earlier in the season after sailing two pitches. MRI came back clean and it was called “shoulder inflammation.” He missed like 2 starts and came back and looked normal, but now I’m not sure if it’s injury, fatigue, or what… but it doesn’t look right. I’ll be interested to see how he looks in the regionals next weekend. He will be on around 14 days rest by the time he touches a mound again.
