Have you all been watching the Yankees? Here is a thought - they are not world beaters.

They have Rodon and Fried going the first 2 games. 2 tough lefties. Not easy match ups. I am not saying the Cubs can’t win either of those games, but at home with those pitchers, the Yankees will be hard to beat.

Horton threw a non-competitive first pitch for a ball. Let's hope he doesn't get investigated by a gambling company because some guy name Joe in Connecticut or Arizona put $30,000 dollars on that pitch to be a ball.

Tonight’s original Guardians starter being investigated. Eep

I think it's ridiculous he is out for tonight's game, but let's hope the Cubs can take advantage of a bullpen game for Cleveland...

Probably not fair but it’s gonna be tough. Obviously Ohtani is the starter. I can’t see them carrying more than 2 so it would be between Seiya, Schwarber, Devers and possibly Hunter Goodman if Colorado needs an All-Star

Lets look at how they stack up:

fWAR: Schwarber 2.3, Suzuki 2.0, Goodman 1.9, Devers 1.9

wRC+: Schwarber 150, Devers 138, Suzuki 137, Goodman 123

wOBA: Schwarber .391, Devers .372, Goodman .368, Suzuki .367

HR: Schwarber 26, Suzuki 23, Devers 17, Goodman 16

RBI: Suzuki 73, Devers 64, Schwarber 58, Goodman 50

OPS: Schwarber .912, Suzuki .869, Devers .861, Goodman .857

Theres more we can look at but you get the picture.  No one would have any gripes if Seiya got an All Star nod but if they are only taking 1 extra DH Schwarber kind of stands out from the crowd with Seiya and Devers a step behind and Goodman as the designated Rockies option

They are still doing the participation trophy award thing right where every team needs to have 1 all star?  So horsefeathers dumb.  I miss the old all star game where players would wear their own jerseys and it was always on the merits.

I think that they're going to wear their own jerseys this year.

The Cubs look like they're playing against prime Greg Maddux tonight. This is a bullpen game, right?

Yes. For the game. For the HR Derby and BP they have All-Star uniforms still. They also have special ASG hats for the game.

The only all star game that didn’t have a player for each team was 1933 and 1934. They’ve been doing it this was from 1935.

You beat me to this. As long as I can remember every team has to have a representative. So unless Peanut is 100 years old and remember back when he was a kid in 1933, he is obviously misremembering. I remember Steve Swisher made the all stars one year. That year was 1976 and he did not make it in his merit.

he's in there

Yea, it likely because the guy starting is only gonna go through the order once and it'll be a RHer to replace him.

Interesting, I guess I never realized that was happening.  For some reason I thought it was a new thing that came in with some of the other recent rule changes.  My bad.

Shaw looks lost at the plate.

Shaw has seen a significant uptick in EV (almost 3mph), hard hit (over 10%) and LA over his last 10 games.  He has seen a significant downtick in o-swing and an uptick in contact rate. This coincides with mechanical changes.

He is literally the 6 unluckiest hitter in baseball according to BABIP vs xBABIP differential.

He is in a situation where the processes are all getting much better but the results haven't followed yet. Please be patient.

I will add, he has a 91 wRC+ over that span (league 3b is 96 wRC+). This is with a .273 BABIP that is still probably a bit on the low side. He doesn't appear lost at all.

Helluva comeback game for Horton

Absolutely. He's looked pretty good. Leadoff walk to Kwan was really his worst PA, but he's sitting on 7 whiffs so far. He's essentially gone fastball-changeup all day with how lefty heavy Cleveland is as well, meaning his best pitch (slider) has been rarely used).

Thank you so much! I try to find the middle ground. Thank all of the middle schoolers I deal with 10 months of the year. They cannot emotionally regulate horsefeathers, so the only zen I have at times is to be the calm one.
