Yes a sweep is possible.

Not a fan of Tallion though.

I hear a broomstick making noise in my closet. Is a sweep coming?

Springs is good, this game could be tough.

Honestly if we're going to lose let Taillon get knocked around a bit so Keller/Pearson/Morgan can get some low leverage work in and hopefully take steps forward.

I can see this happening.

We're not even a week into the real season and there's already some interesting stuff happening playoff odds-wise.

- Cubs are flat-ish from where they were before Japan.  Division odds are up a bit, wildcard odds are down a bit, chance of earning a bye up a smidge as well.  Fangraphs has the Cubs winning the division by 3.5 games, though now it's the Cards in that #2 spot rather than the Brewers

- The Braves have lopped 5 (!!) wins off their pre-season projection between the injuries/suspension/0-6 start.  They are still a likely playoff team, but they coughed up the gap between them and all the wildcard teams.  This is why the Cubs' odds of winning a bye ticked up, the NL no longer appears to have two super teams

- The non-Rockies NL West teams are 20-3, which is what's dragging those wildcard odds for the Cubs down

Early season optimism, blah blah blah.....that's a fun lineup to read down.

Edit: Compared to game 9 last year, we've gone from:

Bellinger > Tucker

Morel > Shaw

Tauchman > PCA

Technically Amaya > Kelly, but big picture black hole to a very promising platoon.

Cubs are playing those west teams early, gotta get some Ws in there.

Looks like Counsell doing a flip flop every game with Amaya and Kelly with both bats being productive early on.

As long as they're both hitting just stay with what working

Another dumb thing along the lines of using up BABIP or wasting home runs is like...well they can't possibly keep up this winning pace, so it's going to revert soon. Basically just gamblers fallacy ad nauseum.

Taillon’s changeup looks kind of incredible today.  Not sure what's happening there?  Also sitting 93-94, so velo not all the way back to pre-2024 from but a big chunk of the way back.

Just box score watching so far, but good start for Jamo and a little bit of a missed opportunity offensively (single, walk, FO, K, K).

The stuff visually looked real good that inning. Hopefully he keeps it up.

PCA on the other hand...

Will defer to you guys about how bad PCA looked in his PA, but Springs by all accounts seems like a very tough LHP. Might have been a good day to give try out the Happ/Tucker/Suzuki outfield and give Workman some PAs, but think the right decision was made to keep the offense humming as it has been.
