Two runners on for the Cubs in the 9th against Wagner and the Phillies. A homerun would tie the game. Who does Dusty bring up for the RBI opportunity? Jerry "freakin" Hairston. Last I checked he wasn't much of an RBI man. Hairston grounds into a double play to pretty much dash the Cubs hope once again. Then Dusty let's the RBI man in Dubois hit. Dusty needs to be fired immediately.

Yeah...let's have the guy with 1 rbi batting in that situation.

They could have given Dubois six strikes in his at bat against Wagner and he still would have struck out. OVERMATCHED.

How could you leave the immortal Lenny Harris off the list?

I was talking about the misuse of talented players. :D

My bad, I just skimmed, then posted, which is always a bad policy. But you could have put Mark Bellhorn on the list. Benching him for Lenny was absurd.

Good call, Bellhorn is another one.

The pro-Neifi crowd has been strangely quiet lately. No doubt they'll wait until AFTER Neifi has a good game, then post. That seems to be their standard operating procedure.

He had to come back down to Earth sooner or later.

Although, knowing Dusty, we'll soon be adding Cedeno to that list I posted...

Neifi could go 0-fer the rest of the season, and I wouldn't be mad because he's already far exceeded my expectations.

The whole point of the Neifi argument was that he was starting over Hairston and taking playing time away from a supposedly better player. Now that Nomar is out and Neifi is the only option what would be the point? What other choice is there but to play him every day at short? Even the biggest Cub farm system booster could not say that they feel Cedeno is ready to play every day at the big league level.

True, but let's be honest, Wagner overmatches most of the MLB. Let's not criticize Hairston and Dubois (or anyone else) when they don't succeed against Billy. Wagner against Dubois was a lot like Prior against Utley. With a little experience, I think either hitter will have a much better chance of success.

Yes, the argument was that he shouldn't play of hairston... now the argument really is... he shouldn't be batting higher than 8th. And in a short while, as his average continues to plummet from it's abnormal high... the argument WILL be that cedeno should play every day...

Dusty brought Hollandsworth in to pinch run for Ben Grieve. Pinch runners are used for speed... something that Hollandsworth doesn't have. It just seemed like a completely pointless move.

Yes, but Hollandsworth for Grieve is a big step up when you consider that Grieve is probably the slowest player in baseball. Also, Hollandsworth is Baker's Gold Glove LF (at least in his eyes).

Eh, I remember last year when Hollandsworth was our best baserunner. He didn't seem to be the fastest guy on the field, but he was very instinctive and aware. He took an extra base every now and again because he exploited other teams' defenses pretty well. That and I'd have to believe he's faster than Macias, Blanco, or even Dubois.

What is with your labels and generalizations? I don't know too many people on here that have bought a Neifi Perez jersey. So wjhat is a pro-Neifi fan? At best from what I've read is that people are giving him his props because he has hit much better (minus the 17 at-bats before his homer today, which I doubt you'll give him props for) than any of us had hoped. I hate that Perez has to play, just as I hate that Hollandsworth starts, but I'm not rooting against them. Several of your posts suggests this regarding Perez. I have fully expected Perez to come down to earth, but what if this is his career year (I doubt it, but would love for it to happen) As far as I'm concerned, I think people who have read my posts know which players I can't stand. I just have no need to spew my hatred for them on a daily basis as, unfortunately, some other posters do for players or coaches. Again, just who is this pro-Neifi crowd you speak of?

Well, might as well get an early start on tommorow's bad moves by Dusty. According to Cubs.com, Dusty is starting Leicester and moving Dempster into the closer's role for now. Leicester has a 5.40 era in Iowa. I'm sure tommorow will turn out well.

I don't know who else he could throw out there. I wish he wouldn't have had Dempster in the bullpen today. I don't mind the 134 pitches thrown today by Z, but I feel he should get five days rest before his next start instead of four. Otherwise, I would expect a rather short outing by Z next start.

Won't he still get 5 days?

There were some pretty heated arguments here when Neifi was playing over Hairston. Some of us here maintained that Neifi is a horrible hitter who should only start when there is no alternative and Dusty was a fool for starting Neifi over Hairston. Some of those who diagreed with that opinion were not entirely polite about it, which is why I don't mind taking the occasional potshot at them.

No problem. All the off-days coming up are making everything confusing. I wonder what will happen when Borowski comes back, and eventually when they need a 5th starter. I'm assuming Dempster will go back to starting. But then, when Kerry comes back, does Rusch continue starting or does Dempster? But I guess those things will be straightened out when the time comes.

You have a picture of a player's head coming out of a toilet in your signature but are complaining become some posters were not entirely polite? Interesting.

I don't think those things have anything to do with one another.

I'm sorry for insulting your son on Mother's Day, Mrs. Macias.

That's pretty much what I expected. Very high brow stuff.
