I guess we can start focusing on the offseason and next year now

I’ve been doing that since like August. Happy they played better but really never felt like it was leading anywhere

Also this is just baseball meatball griping and having the benefit of hindsight but I never like the idea of bringing in a shaky pitcher like Pearson into a tied game bases loaded 1 out situation. Just feels like asking for trouble.  Smyly struggled and walked 2 so maybe it would have been foolish to keep using him especially against a righty but I’d have stuck with him after striking out the previous batter.

Eh, I see your point but counter-meatball is that it’s much more important for the long term cubs that Pearson gets that spot over smyly.

Caissie for wisdom or mastro please

They probably want to keep p-wis for his once a month homerun production. And mastro for his dandy little glove-work. This way they won't start cassie's mlb clock ticking

They dont lose any control over Caissie by starting his clock this late in the season.

Gonna be interesting to see what Hoyer decides to do with Caissie, Shaw, and Alcantara all looking like they'll be ready to come up next season.

I feel like its going to be another half season of the exact same team and at the deadline Hoyer will either pull off another big sell off or not depending on their place in the standings. Dont see him trading any of the kids at AAA during the offseason

I don't see him trading them 3, also don't think it'll be wise to hold them down til July/August, especially if they're hitting well out of the gate in AAA.

Bellinger decision will have an impact

Is Suzuki now a primary DH with 3 yrs left or is he trade bait

Shaw been playing 3B in Iowa lately,  theyll need a position for him when he goes up.

Hoyer gonna have a few tough decisions to make with his prospects and a couple key players.

He can really help the pitching with a couple solid trades.
