Brennen Davis belted a moonshot 450-foot three-run HR onto the top of the berm in left-centerfield and Joan Delgado hammered an RBI triple, leading the ACL Cubs to a 5-3 victory over the ACL Rockies in Arizona Complex League Continuation Camp (East Valley Bridge Group) game action Saturday morning at Sloan Park in Mesa, AZ.

Another Cubs 2024 draft pick made his pro game debut, as RHP Ben Johnson (18th round draft pick - Georgia Southern) threw a 1-2-3 inning (6-3 GO, K-looking, and a P-6), featuring a 92-93 MPH FB, a 82-83 SWEEP, and an 85-86 CH.

Brennen Davis (on AAA Iowa 7-day IL - stress fracture in lower back) and BJ Murray (on AAA Iowa 7- day IL) continued their ACL rehab assignments, with both playing in the field (B. Davis in RF for six innings and Murray at 3B for seven innings) and getting four plate appearances each.

B. Davis and Murray were joined by catcher Tomas Nido (on Cubs MLB 10-day IL - right knee surgery, and rehabbing at the Cubs Spring Training complex in Mesa), who played in his first game since going on the IL with a torn meniscus on July 26. Besides working behind the plate in 100+ degree heat for five innings, Nido also went 2-3 at bat (both hits were hard-hit line drive singles pulled over the shortstop's head into LF).

20-year old 6'3 235 RHRP Luis A. Reyes was throwing gas in his two innings of work (a 97-98 MPH FB combined with an 84-87 SL). He is a beast.
