lol they were gonna get the out at 1st anyways but a fitting ending

At least Swanson had a prayer at bearing that play out at first. Nico made a very very dumb decision.

Eh, if Nico doesn't draw that throw Swanson was out at first anyway.  Maybe something crazy happens in a rundown, who knows?

I agree.  Worth a shot forcing an error on a few throws rather than a routine one to 1B.  Odds either way aren't great.

Four straight days for clase 7 games clear of a playoff spot is certainly a choice.

Yeah, but getting that 1st round bye is pretty huge, for a best of 3 WC series too.

He only throws like 10 pitches an appearance anyways so he's not working near as hard as say Neris haha

Also, his running could have caused Ramirez to hesitate for a second and if he threw to first maybe it is late. Or with indecision maybe it is a bad throw. If Nico is running he can score on a misplay at 1st. Really not a big deal. Ramirez makes the play at 1st anyway if Nico isn’t running.

I rather enjoyed watching Lou Pinella go apeshitt

I did too. But I don’t think Counsil getting tossed for balls and strikes that weee called bad on both teams does anything for the team. For that fans, sure it is entertaining.
What I don’t understand is how baseball can be played by the best players in the world and be ok with subpar officiating of the game. How do they allow umpires to continue to suck at what they do when they have the technology to do it so much better? I don’t get it.

Well i'll argue that umpiring has never been more accurate in the history of baseball, by orders of magnitude.  They're kept honest by the fact that players and fans and the league can see if they're wrong now with the K-zone on the broadcast etc and so they'll get criticized and embarrassed when missing calls unlike 20+ years ago when strikezones were at the umps complete whim.

Someone here at nsbb made the remark statcast (or whatever the technology may be) shows location at slight difference than our beloved marquis network strikezone simulator? Where-as we might view 23 missed calls, mlb thru statcast, may only see 4 missed calls? Dunno?

Your argument has no merit. It does not matter. They are inaccurate. There is technology to correct it.

You are correct, back in the day pitchers would know before game time the homeplate umpire tendencies for calling strikes in or out and up or down. I heard lou Boudreau many a time reference the umpire habit of calling the inside pitch or whatever.

Can you imagine watching a peak Tom Glavine game with the strike zone box?  "Egregious" wouldn't even begin to describe the strike calls.
