The Sox are going to trade him. Out bidding the Yankees or Phillies, etc. is another thing.

If Hoyer would be willing to trade some prospects instead of holding onto them, we could outbid either of those teams.  We have the assets to trade for Vlad, Robert, or Paredes to solve our offensive problems.

I would swap a fast as horsefeathers PCA for a slow as horsefeathers PCA that can hit the baseball consistently. Maybe that’s just me though.

I think its against baseball rules to have a .300+ hitter in the lineup in contemporary mlb

Not if the Sox want pitching. Unless the Cubs are going to put Horton in the trade they can be outbid by other teams. I just don’t see any combo that would have the Sox trade Robert to the Cubs.

Good on Wesneski for wearing it and getting through 4.  Getting through the last 4 with a combo of Roberts, Smyly, and Lopez feels pretty reasonable, and if you do so you're in good shape for tonight and tomorrow.

I would feel a bit better if Palencia is in town in case they wanted to add a fresh arm between games.

I'd swap him out in a heart-beat for any other Top 50 prospect

I saw one trade proposal online that was PCA and Shaw for Robert. I'd do that in a heartbeat. I'd even sweeten that with another non-pitcher.

I wouldn't. They can have one of them. I'm not depleting the top of the farm for 1 guy thats had a single full season in 5 years.

Hell I'd do pca, triantos and birdsell for a proven commodity in robert. I'm currently hiding under my desk from the huggers

What Robert has proven is that he's a 5+ WAR talent that's consistently worth half of that because he's played more than 100 games in a season one time in his career.

When/if he gets traded, the White Sox wont be getting 2 top 50 prospects in return.

I would make this trade but I dont  think the Sox will. I think they will want the centerpiece to be a pitching prospect. I don’t see the Cubs as a match.

Cool I was hoping they had this contingency ready to go.  Combined with using Bote for an inning the pen is in great shape.  That was probably Roberts' best outing as a big leaguer though, he'll be back soon.  But Palencia seems far more likely to quickly backfill Little in the circle of trust.

Wesneski (7.2) + Wicks (19.2) + Thompson (.8) + PCA (38.2) for Robert (36.4) + Kopach (-1).  Numbers according to Baseball Trade Values.  Huge overpay by the Cubs according to the numbers.

And whenever I use that to value a trade I am told not to do so. Based on that a PCA for Robert straight up is fair. Is it? In what world would the Sox really do that.

Is there a reason people say not to use it? Their model seems pretty solid to me
