Boston is looking for a place holder SS until Mayo is ready and they are hanging with NY and Baltimore. Who says no, Boston or the Cubs?

The guy is coming off a 4.2 and 4.5 fWAR season and while he's not been as good this year, I still think he'd net a significant haul given they'd get him for 2.5 years at a very team friendly contract. I'm certainly not saying yes straight up.

I thought for a second this was an actual trade that happened.  I was a little nervous...Nico hasn't had a great year but in general he's been very valuable and someone I'd prefer to keep for the time being.

  • CubinNY changed the title to Nico Hoerner for Kyle Teel (Proposal)

I edited it so it won't fake anyone else out.

I don’t know this Kyle Teel guy but the cubs aren’t going to win until they move past this mediocre core of players, so I’d be fine trading away Hoerner. He’s a 5th wheel player at best and eminently replaceable.

Teel is a highly-rated catcher. Good approach, with limited power.

Boston doesn't even have a hole at SS they need to address; David Hamilton has been decent with the glove and hitting 17% above league average with a 15 HR/60+ SB pace

could see them giving him a platoon partner like Kevin Newman but you don't need to part with a top-5 system prospect for that

Hamilton isn’t a SS. He’s terrible there. Probably better suited at 2B.
