Probably is the key word here.  We already know that Madrigal can't hit.  We can assume that Luis probably won't hit.  But we don't know for sure.  Instead of trying the same thing that's failed, why not try something different?  Plus Luis is almost certainly better with the glove at 3B

Chapman would've been better than any current cub options at 3rd. But, alas, he cost $

We don’t have to guess. Go see what Vasquez had been doing in AAA. Then, for fun, compare it to what madrigal did in AAA last year.

But he could have pitched Saturday and still pitched against the Brewers on Thursday. No idea why they would skip him.

How much warm up time did he have before the game was called? Maybe that impacted the decision.

This is what I don’t understand about poster at times. And I am definitely not just speaking of you. Do you really think that the Cubs don’t know what they have? Do you think that if they truly thought Vasquez would be a better option than Madrigal he wouldn’t have been up already? Besides suggesting they should give him a try and he might hit better, you are also assuming he is a better fielder at 3rd than Madrigal. Again, I ask, if he is a better fielder and hitter why wouldn’t he have already been up? And as someone pointed out, if he or Madrigal does go to 3rd they would probably be taking Tauchman or Happ’s bat out of the line up. Both of those guys most assuredly are better hitters than Vasquez or Madrigal. And this team needs hitting.

Sometimes teams are wrong.  Sometimes something just clicks in a player.  Vazquez is a very good SS with a very strong arm.  Yes we can assume that he's a nothing player.  But personally, I'd like to get confirmation before committing to him not being at the very least, an option at 3B.  What harm can be done.  I mean, look at the futility at 3B right now.
