Hello Cubbies. If I met any of you at the London Series this year, hello again!

I'm planning a wee trip from Scotland to the states next year to take in some baseball and whatever else comes my way.

I'm looking at late June and early July which would take in Brewers away and Phillies at Wrigley. Would really appreciate advice and tips about where to stay, buying tickets, beer, food and that sort of thing, but tickets and beer are the priorities.

If you don't think WI/IL is a good idea, please just say so and I'll go see the Yankees instead.  😞

Thanks in advance for any responses.

Welcome!  I'm not local to the area any longer so I'll let those folks chime in more about travel logistics, but I would say generally that Chicago + Milwaukee is a perfectly reasonable plan for a baseball trip, as long as you're okay renting a car you shouldn't have any issues planning a trip where you see games in both cities.

Don’t go see the Yankees, their stadium is one of the worst in the league.
Beer, I’d go with a half dozen pregame, half dozen at the game and maybe 8-10 more after.

Id stay somewhere you won’t need a car and on that note I’d also avoid Wisconsin, as drunk driving is mandatory there.

don’t rush into a ticket purchase. You can always get tickets.

Yankees - ha ha, I was joking! (But I'm going to have to do NY some day)

I don't want the responsibility of a car, so will be relying on public transport. Thinking of getting myself to Milwaukee for the first half and then down to Chicago. Is it realistic to stay in Chicago and travel each day?

Brewers Cubs is a big local game, would worry it might sell out? Mid season might not be so difficult, but do you need a purchase history? I don't want to have to sell my soul or even just my **** to a re-sale site.

I'm new here, but I'm sure I'll get the hang of the parochial prejudices about cheeseheads.

I don’t think they’ll make you sell your dick.

What do you mean by travel each day? Going from Chicago to Milwaukee multiple times? It’s about a 90 minute train ride, so doable, but the last train from Milwaukee back to Chicago looks to be around 7:30 PM. It wouldn’t be feasible for a night game but for a day game you should be good.

It may sell out, but depending on which day in the week, the time...you can always wait it out through the day. A mid-season game, while a nice rivalry, won't have that "must have" ticket feel regardless, so people will always be selling on one of our third markets (ticketmaster, etc)
