Vazquez hit his 7th HR at Iowa (18 total in year with just over 400 PA) with a 120 line and an outstanding BBK. He's had a damn good year and has improved his discipline significantly after his promotion.

As a guy that has been called the best defensive shortstop in the system for years now, adding significant offense makes him a very intriguing player.

Curious how much of this is environmental, leaving the tacked ball in AA and having ABS for half the AAA games.

I still don't think he's a starter on a good team, but he's definitely a solid back up infielder at this point and that carries a lot of value.

Unlike a lot of prospects, I'd place his non-injury chances at seeing MLB action pretty close to 100%.

I like to think they told him that was his last objective to reach the majors and he really took it to heart. 

 

I bet he could save them some money and play the Madrigal role next year. Maybe we could get a reliever for Madrigal in the winter.

Take it for what it's worth; Reddit poster claims he's ITK and that PCA has a place in Chicago and will be called up shortly.  I think it's just the case of someone trying to act ITK and reading pretty basic tea leaves, but hey, worth a pass on.

i was at the ICubs game last night, and my main overall takeaway is that the ABS really makes AAA a bad baseball experience

it's surely worsened quite a bit because all the washouts, NPs and rehabbers that surface there but almost nobody could reliably throw strikes and everybody's mostly watching pitches the whole game

PCA BB'd his first two PA and (in a 6-1 game) K swinging his next two, violently slamming his bat in frustration both times – that guy probably needs to chill out a bit

he also tagged from 2nd on a flyout to LF which was kinda wild
